what can i do to improve the product, so that it pays the bills?
roast/feedback are appreciated! 🔥
In the past weeks, I applied for a remote position at a company I admire, even refreshed my portfolio just for that role.
Got rejected today.
So I told myself this:
It’s tough, but please, keep going.
Keep working on yourself.
Keep improving.
Your time will come.
🤞🏻
My YouTube channel grew from 0 to 8,000+ subscribers in 2.5 months.
During that period, I published 12 videos on UI/UX design and productivity.
Here are 9 lessons I learned on content creation. 🧵
Framer experts, how do you do this in
@framer
?
Spent hours trying to figure this out and still no idea how :')
- Text and icons are inline with each other (inline css?)
- Each sentence fades in as the user scrolls.
cred:
After hours of tinkering & feeling overwhelmed...
I'm finally able to do this on Framer.
Thank you to the Framer experts who helped:

I live in Kuala Lumpur. Most companies do not hire *remote* Product Designers unless I relocate.
But I can’t relocate because I want to stay here and take care of my family.
With every rejection, I think to myself that maybe I’m not good enough.
I believe I’m not alone 🫂
TL;DR
1. Know your audience
2. Give your audience what they want
3. Answer specific questions
4. Create content that's worthy of your audience's attention
5. The algorithm rewards great content
6. Be consistent
7. It's not about you
8. Give a clear CTA
9. Think less, create more

This is wrong.
To those who are wondering, my original resource is here: and .
I want to equip myself with coding skills to build a SaaS product as soon as possible.
I'm a designer with basic HTML/CSS knowledge.
No need for the latest, fancy, complicated frameworks.
Which coding language should I pick up? 🙏
@GreciaO
I'm shocked that she's been selling that resource since August 2022💔 Anyway, thank you for sharing valuable content on your YT channel! I love your video thumbnails!
In the past 30 days, I:
- filmed a new video (coming soon)
- deep work on weekdays 6AM>
- started a new client project
- started a new side project✨
- recovered from burnout
- 10x my coding skills 🪄
- hospitalised (i'm ok!)
blessed to be able to do what i 🧡
happy new year!
My goal isn't more subscribers or more revenue.
I want to continue solving people's problems through design and building useful products.
The rest will fall into place :)
One of my biggest struggle: Chronic migraine.
I battle migraines almost daily. Today’s one of those days.
Perhaps that’s why I became a solopreneur - To be able to rest on sick days and not having to feel bad for taking a day off.
It’s tougher to do so when you’re employed.
Officially unemployed 🥳
New job starts in July!
This short break is the perfect time to dive into my creative side, create more YouTube videos and have fun!
No money? Learn a valuable skill and get paid for it.
No connections? Share what you know, give value to others and make meaningful relationships.
No excuses - Make the most out of your situation.
Writing my very first book! ✍️
Become a Self-Taught Product Designer: A Beginner’s Handbook💡
This is the book I wish I had when starting out with no experience, no support, no idea what I'm doing.
What else do you wanna know about getting into UI/UX? Lemme know! 👇
a lot of information you need to know are freely available online.
stop waiting for that perfect online course or guide.
it’s faster if you just get up, do something, then learn from your mistakes.
don’t sit and wait.
Life update: I've been taking things really, really slow. Went to the doctors 5x this month for separate health issues. Probably stress/burnout.
I'm learning to accept that it's okay to slow down, do things at our own pace. We shouldn't feel bad for taking breaks✨
Instead of complaining what didn’t go well for you today, put in the reps.
Work on yourself.
Ask yourself: What’s one action you can do today that would move the needle?
4. Learned new skills
I picked up
@Webflow
development. I enjoyed it despite it was hard. I built my website as a pet project, and doubled as a portfolio.
I could now design AND build websites for my clients.
Whatever skill we learn, it never goes to waste.
Went down the rabbit hole of improving my website designs and updated some content. Designed on

How to turn knowledge into action:
Instead of buying yet another course, revisit courses you've enrolled in.
Relearn the concepts that slipped off your mind.
Then, put the course away.
Apply at least one thing you've learned from that course.
Repeat.
Here are my 9 income streams
The 'success' you see, is years of hard work invested into myself.
No shortcuts.
No fancy lifestyle.
Just boring days and nights spent putting in the work.
I've had creative burnout. Many times.
The truth?
The perfect work-life balance doesn't exist.
And stress is inevitable.
4 signs of creative burnout & how to approach it:
Making a video about how I manage my time⏰while juggling a full time job, youtube, freelancing & side hustles.
I'm now self-employed but many have asked me how I balance all of it back then.
What do you want to know?

Say hi if you see us 🫶
Your hard work today may seem like it's getting you nowhere.
Your imposter syndrome may kick in multiple times a day.
You may feel lonely along your journey.
But remember, it's just a ~phase~ 🧡
"Can you share a step-by-step guide to become a UI/UX Designer?"
Since day one, I've been getting requests about this topic. It's finally, finally out after many iterations ☺️
Experiencing burnout and impostor syndrome. See, my daily life isn’t sunshine and rainbows. I don’t feel at my best all the time and that’s okay.
It’s just a phase. Treat yourself to things you enjoy.
You are not defined by your job title, your company, your achievements, your status.
Don't tie your identity to your job or the company you work for.
You are so much more than that.

Been on a 2 week vacation across eastern and central europe with my family.
Today we’ll leave Budapest, head back to Kuala Lumpur, my home 🏡
Excited to be back soon with fresh ideas & new content for you!🥂
Look how far you’ve come.
If you’ve gotten yourself this far, you sure as hell can figure anything out.

Pretty designs are useless if they're not user-friendly.
Pretty designs are useless if they're not user-friendly.
Pretty designs are useless if they're not user-friendly.
People will always have opinions,
but not all opinions are equal.
Embrace constructive criticism to improve.
Ignore the naysayers.
Holding back from doing something just because you've been told that you're 'not good enough' is a disservice to yourself.
Now go do the thing!
9. Think less, create more.
This is my motto—You've probably seen me repeating this.
You don't need to make the perfect plan. There's no such thing.
Just start. You learn when you put your thoughts into action.
5 days until 2021 ends.
Whether you choose to get plenty of rest, spend time with loved ones, work on your side project, or learn a new skill...
Do something your future self will thank you for. 🙂

Join their courses? Cold DMs? Start a podcast and invite them as a guest? 🤔
Use
@MobbinDesign
(I've been using it since 2019)
I recommend investing in it for 3 reasons:
1. Save time on design research
2. Learn from the best-in-class apps/websites
3. Keep up with design trends
↓ there's more
3. Answer specific questions.
If you don't know what they want, start searching for signals with analytics tools like
@vidIQ
or observe what people are asking on
@Quora
and
@Reddit
.
Then, answer those questions.
Keep it brief and straight to the point.
1. Know your audience.
Pick a target audience that you deeply care about.
Then, personalize your content to them.
Ask yourself, who are you creating content for?
What are their pain points?
Is there something you could share that would help them?
8. Financial Minimalism
When our income grows, our expenses may increase.
This is known as Lifestyle Inflation.
To manage my money carefully, I tracked my finances on Notion & Google Sheets.
Kept my expenses low.
Live below my means.
Donated/sold the things I no longer use.
Lesson 1: Multiple side projects yield creativity
I get bored if I focus on one thing at a time.
When you get creative block, take a break, work on something else and revisit the problem later.
The result:
Less overthinking, more thinking out of the box.
As cheesy as it may sound...
If I can do this, you can do this too 💪🏻

5. The algorithm rewards great content.
This quote by
@mattdavella
says it all.
Full transparency: I took Matt's Master Youtube Course and published my first video a week later.
I’ve got good news today! After improving myself in UI/UX thus far and putting myself out of my comfort zone, I got a role at a startup that I never thought I’d EVER have a chance to work for. I’ll share more when work starts. I’m so happy and stunned at the same time 😭😭😭😭
I bought my dream car 2 months ago.
But today, I decided to sell it in order to make room for more important things in life.
Priorities shift.
I’m sad to let go, but I believe I’ve made the right decision - and the right decision is often the most uncomfortable one.
