If you want to live Jewish values, you need to learn Jewish values.

Torah is your inheritance...go & claim it!
Rachel Goldberg-Polin: “I want to thank God in front of all of you for giving me the magnificent present of Hersh for 23 years. I just wish it had been longer.”
The Torah defines who is a Jew
The Mishna defines who is a Jew
The Gemara defines who is a Jew
The Rambam defines who is a Jew
The Shulchan Aruch defines who is a Jew
The ELECTION CYCLE DOES NOT define who is a Jew!
The Jewish people are one, every one of us connected.
We are all connected to Eliyahu Kay ob"m, who happens to be the nephew of two of my congregants.
Moreover, he is the brother of every Jew.
Tonight, my son received his white coat and took the Hippocratic oath, as he starts medical school on the journey to become a doctor.
Drs are a bedrock of society & I know he'll minister his patients with compassion & expert care 💙
His grandparents were there cheering him on!
On this difficult day, I was grateful to welcome a baby girl to the Jewish people with her Hebrew baby naming. The Jewish people will triumph through the children.
This couple is a massive Kiddush HaShem, including Jon Pollin sharing the Talmud passage which teaches us that "every soul is an entire universe."
So appropriate after hearing antisemites disparage the Talmud.
Israel & the Jewish people do not need your approval or forgiveness.
Protecting innocent lives by dismantling terror is Israel's most basic right to life.
Judaism absolutely stands for that.
10,000 children have been killed by Israel in Gaza.
I will never forgive my fellow Jews that are going along with and/or staying silent. It’s a complete humiliation of what Judaism stands for. How dare you desecrate our tradition in this way.
@HeathMayo
Agreed. A president being unwilling to participate in the peaceful transfer of power is not a partisan issue. It's about the constitution and protecting the future of the USA.
During her interview on

Candace Owen

referred to what she termed "radical Judaism" and characterized the iconic Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Schneerson, as someone who "preached Jewish supremacism and hatred of all non-Jews." These words are a sickening
Our son has worked so hard for many years to get to this day of graduating from college, on his way to medical school (and Valedictorian to boot). Really an incredible privilege to watch a young person purse their dreams.
This morning I got to Daven with an inspiring Jew, Amarei Stoudemire, who told us that he tries to "represent God wherever I go."
That's a beautiful aspiration!
@academic_la
Also Judaism advocates for truth and teaches us to distance from falsehood. Talmud says God's seal is truth.
Meanwhile, Trumps lives and breaths lies. He continually seeds lies and conspiracy for his own benefit.
Hard to think of someone more at odds w/ Jewish values than
I'm grateful to wake up today & be occupied with a Mitzvah:
Taking my daughter to her Chupah (הכנסת כלה)!
It's hard to think of a better way to spend our days than occupied in Mitzvot.
People are asking about Lashon HaRah regarding CW.
With regards to Lashon HaRah, the Torah says, "You shall not go out as a gossiper amongst 'your people'."
Reshayim (such as known abusers) are not Halachically in the category of "Your people".
Any questions?
We’re 48 hours from the new Jewish year. We are to be making repair, evaluating our actions, realigning with the divine & our neighbors.
Israel is bombing Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen. Killing hundreds.
This is how you know the State of Israel antithetical to Judaism.
I finished Bereishis with Rashi over Shabbos.
In case you haven't tried it, Chumash with Rashi is an amazing & enlightening journey.
Shemos starts tomorrow....
If you don't want to believe me as a Rabbi, take my word as a parent.
My children are SO much better off for having been raised in a home of Torah & Mitzvos.
Building your Jewish home on the foundation of Mitzvot is the best investment you'll ever make.
On this day in 2014, I awoke to the shocking news that my revered and holy Rabbi, Rav Moshe Twersky, was taken from us in the Har Nof massacre.
He was an angel amongst men. While the loss cannot be recovered, his memory will NEVER be lost or forgotten.
Today, our community will bring an indigent Jew to burial here in Portland.
A Jew who has no family, no resources, and had a challenging adulthood.
Yet, he will be buried amongst the Jewish people...
Community matters.
If you want Jewish values, Halacha teaches you:
"The entire Jewish people are responsible for one another."
Accountability for our fellow Jew is a core value of Judaism.
Wow, I just named a new baby boy as we welcomed him into the Jewish covenant of 4,000 years.
Amazing how a Jewish life is defined, from infancy, by Mitzvot. The Jewish people are all filled with Mitzvos!
Original sin - the idea that people or groups of people, are inherently bad or irredeemable - goes completely against Jewish belief.
Every person has endless potential for goodness & growth.
@RitchieTorres
Hersh was an exceptional young man. It's devastating and infuriating that he could be taken from the world in this way.
Thank you
@RitchieTorres
for your steadfast support of Israel
Hamas may treat our girls like animals, but these daughters of Israel are all royalty...
The Jewish people will not rest until EVERY hostage is free 🇮🇱
#HamasRapists
#BringThemHome
Literally all of Judaism is in front of you right there in the Shema:
▪️God is One
▪️Love God with all your heart
▪️Learn/speak words of Torah everywhere you go
▪️Do Mitzvot
How much clearer could it get?
Reporting abuse is not a "leniency" in Lashon HaRah (slander).
It's a stringency in the sanctity of life...As the Torah says, "v'Chai BaHem"...
You shall LIVE in the words of Torah, and not die in them.
YOU'RE inconsistent?!
So was Avraham!
So was Sarah!
So was Moshe!
So was Miriam!
So was David!
Keep doing Mitzvos. The Torah was NOT given for ministering angels.
@AvivaKlompas
So devastating to learn this terrible news 😪💔
Horrific that this exceptional young man was stolen from his life and murdered.
May the family find comfort
Be PROUD of who you are as a Jew.
Ever since Avraham launched our nation 4,000 years ago, we've been proclaiming the name of HaShem "God of the universe."
@RitchieTorres
@MaxNordau
Jerusalem has been the Jewish capitol ever since King David. It's mentioned throughout the Hebrew Bible and it's centrallity was initiated by the Jewish people.
The holiness of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount is core to the Jewish faith.
Chanukah celebrates the strength of Jewish women.
When abuse of Jewish women was a basic policy of the Greek forces, Yehudit -- a female Maccabee -- beheaded a Greek general.
So yeah, we've been here before...
Today, scientists understand that sleep integrates what we learn during the day into our brains.
So it's no exaggeration to say that sleeping is an integral part of the Mitzvah of Torah study.
Self care is a Torah value.
Isaiah 53 teaches that HaShem has a persecuted servant who (ultimately) teaches righteousness to the multitudes...
Can you guess who the isolated servant is?
Hint: It's not Jesus!
There are 613 Mitzvos in the Torah.
Keeping "some" of the Mitzvot does not make you a hypocrite...
It just means that you're on the Derech.... so keep striving to go forward!
I share my sincere Tefilot for those held hostage at Congregation Beth Israel, in Colleyville TX.
May HaShem take our brethren, "the entire house of Israel" speedily...
"From subjugation to redemption..."
TODAY marks the beginning of the Three Weeks.
While Israel faced many oppressors, our sages teach us that BASELESS HATRED is a root cause of exile.
So there's no better time than now to strive for love & unity with our fellow Jew.
@HannahLebovits
Right, my grandfather who dropped out of high school (never completed) to support his parents, brothers and sisters with three odd manual jobs... Totally not working class.
If you're making a 2023 resolution, remember that Judaism is NOT "all or nothing"
EVERY person, wherever you are in life, can find a step forward, toward meaningful Jewish growth...
Some people think that Judaism is an "all or nothing" endeavor.
It's not.
You CAN grow in a meaningful way from exactly where you are, on your own unique path.
It's nice to be a "good person," but Judaism demands much more:
-Walk in God's attributes
-Love & serve God
-Learn Torah
-Pursue justice
-Do Mitzvot
-Be a Kiddush HaShem
It takes resilience, but the path of Judaism will bring you to a far deeper connection with HaShem.
