In 2018, a fresh-faced 14 year old like Patiphan could break into the scene with a structured league like Pacific Contenders, get oppurtunities to develop and get scouted to the big leagues. Fast forward 4 years later, no such thing exists anymore. The region remains abandoned.

The current ANZ Contenders dates is killer to many players and teams in SEA/PAC. Games start at 3-4pm on a weekday afternoon, where many players have school or work. This forces them to have to skip school or take leave from work, and will end up hurting them in the long run.

On this day exactly 3 years ago, a team full of unknown Thai players went all the way to the finals of Overwatch ACE 2020, the last OW1 Pacific Tournament. They lost 0-4, Blizzard abandoned the region after. Today, the same core won their second Pacific Contenders championship.

TFW Gamebattles Open Division Admins changed the Open Division rules after the 1st round after the tournament already started. And now teams need to replay their matches just because they played on SG servers because the rules said they could and now they can't. 🤦 @owpathtopro
