Peacemaker’s live action design is absolutely perfect. So much fanart trying to put John Cena in generic Halo bodyarmor was put to shame when it was revealed his costume is taken right from the comics. He looks so stupid. 12/10.
Still insane that Jim Starlin, the creator of fucking Thanos, got more money for this not-at-all KGBeast in BvS than the entirety of everything the MCU ever gave him
The “Jaime Reyes isn’t Blue Beetle” crowd (if you can call them that) have an even flimsier argument than the “Miles isn’t Spider-Man” crowd.
Not least of which because the general public couldn’t tell you who the fuck Blue Beetle was for most of his existence.
Rita Farr is an amazing and complex character, portrayed brilliantly by April Bowlby. I especially love her time travel arc in Doom Patrol season 3.
Also… big lady pretty.
Batman and Moon Knight both have a Zodiac killer-inspired villain who shitposts online and is obsessed with their nemesis.
I want one for Question too, tbh
I’m always if two minds about Doom Patrol comics
1. What an amazing cast of characters who bond through the weirdness they face on a daily basis
2. Big lady pretty
Before this takes off, I should clarify that I know Superman is typically written to fight/oppose authoritarianism. I made this edit with a line taken out of context from JLU.
@james_mellange
The goofy extras, the one horror scene in the middle of it, the way the hero used his powers to do very relatable things on his journey, the silver/golden age tones and villains. That sort of stuff.
The 80’s version typically had to be forced or blackmailed into working for the government, his skin isn’t a “containment suit” so much as it is an alien alloy that formed around him and when he explodes, he doesn’t die. He time travels.
Batman fans: *argue about public perception and his kill rule forever*
Question fans: “Hey, did you know there was a story where Vic buried a bunch of criminals in wet cement because the city of Metropolis told him to? That was weird lmao”
I’m kind of surprised this isn’t more widely known, but Barbara Gordon first became Oracle in Suicide Squad. John Ostrander and Kim Yale wanted to do this with her after DC canonized Killing Joke.
On the topic of Legacy characters, it occurs to me Ted Kord is one too. He’s probably one of the first, right? It was kind of unheard of in the silver age for someone to permanently take over a dead guy’s mantle.
Another animated Question I also love is from the Showcase Blue Beetle short. David Kaye does a great job as a version of Vic that takes the Ditko objectivist version in a light comedic route.
The Batman has rejuvenated my interest in the character a bit, but nah I don’t want any more of the clown. Bring on villains like Mr. Freeze, Clayface, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy etc
