Iโm vaccinated. Iโve urged everyone I know to get vaccinated. Iโm annoyed by vaccine skepticism. President Biden and Labor have no authority to issue this rule. Not only that, itโll almost certainly lead to more skepticism, resistance, and political polarization. Itโs a bad move.

@RepThomasMassie
is a man of principle. He always has been. Members should go on record for a bill with this sort of price tag, $2.2 trillion. House leadership should have planned better because they knew that this could happen.
Every criminal law is enforced by the point of a gun. When we talk about policing, maybe we should also talk about the fact that there are are too many criminal laws.
Do yourself a favor. Stop watching cable news or reading clickbait stories from traditional news media or partisan sources. Remember, bad news sells, and thereโs a lot of money in keeping us scared and divided.
As a kid in high school, I didnโt stand for the pledge. Why? Well, Iโm glad you asked. My dad was a Vietnam veteran who was exposed to Agent Orange. He died when I was young, and the govโt use of that toxic substance killed him.
How many times do we have to die, right? I mean, weโve all already died once because of the repeal of Title II regulation. We all died again with the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO DIE?!?!?!?!
The nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh will threaten the lives of millions of Americans for decades to come and will morph our Supreme Court into a political arm of the right-wing Republican Party.

@RepThomasMassie
is the best. He just moved to rename the so-called "Bipartisan Budget Act" to "a bill to kick the can down the road and for other purposes."

Well, folks, this is it. The
#FirstStepAct
is on the floor in the Senate. Weโve got the cloture vote today at 5:30. After that, we have to beat the Cotton-Kennedy amdts, pass the bill, and get it through the House. Proud to be working with a right-left coalition to get this done.
I have some professional news. After more than six years, I'm moving on from
@FreedomWorks

Iโve known
@BrianKempGA
for years. Heโs a good and honest man who cares deeply for Georgia. Heโs also a popular governor. Attacking him will not end well.
Saw
@AOC
's tweets about her office policy of 12 weeks of parental leave. It's worth noting that
@RepDavid
, one of the most fiscally conservative members of the House and a member of the
@freedomcaucus
, offers 16 weeks of parental leave.
This prison reform bill is TRASH! Hereโs breaking news, this country has a drug problem-this bill significantly reduces the penalty for trafficking heroin and fentanyl. I know many Republicans want to cozy up to voters but this is the WRONG way!
Qualified immunity doesn't appear in the Constitution. In fact, there's a federal statute that directly conflicts with the existing Supreme Court doctrine and precedent for qualified immunity.

Watching the House Crime Subcommittee's hearing on pretrial. Republicans are going after proposals to end cash bail. Disappointing. Too many defendants are unnecessarily incarcerated while awaiting trial because they can't afford bail.
This is bill is unquestionably among the worst the House has passed in this Congress. Although many Republicans realized that, only four cared enough to vote against it.
Today,
@POTUS
said, โNeed to get this bill to my desk fast!โ
@realDonaldTrump
again shows heโs not serious about limiting government. No congressman, no president should support a bill that unconstitutionally expands federal crimes and defines nonviolent offenses as violent ones.
If we want children to succeed in school, parents have to be more involved. That doesn't require more government spending or involvement; it requires parents to, you know, be parents.
Yeah,
@justinamash
is right. This is worse than it was under Boehner. Itโs not just the process thatโs broken. This โleadershipโ team is broken.
What happened at the Capitol a year ago today still makes me angry. I donโt understand how anyone can downplay it other than to defend their political tribe or placate the former president and his cult of worshippers.
Thinking about putting out a letter for
@RepThomasMassie
โs bill to eliminate the Department of Education that includes this line, โLook, we hit CTRL+F on our PDF of the Constitution, and the word โeducationโ is literally not there.โ
Iโm seeing so many ads in Georgia referencing socialism. The overuse of the word is making it lose its impact. Thereโs also another problem: Republicans are increasingly embracing socialist ideas and rhetoric.
Speaking of what people donโt want. In February 2013, CBO projected that 26 million people would have coverage through ObamaCare in 2017. The figure is around 10.3 million, give or take.
#TaxDebate
Today is a great day. The
#FirstStepAct
passed the House by an overwhelming margin. Been working on federal reforms for four years now, and we finally got it done. Congrats to everyone who worked on this!
A resolution will soon be introduced in the Georgia House of Representatives to remove the statue of Alexander Stephens in Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol (one of Georgia's two statues) and replace it with Martin Luther King. That resolution will be bipartisan.
Iโm amazed that Fauci has been a federal government employee for literally decades and still doesnโt understand how this whole government thing works.
Pelosi says there were no hearings on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. There were hearings on tax reform. The bill itself was subject to a four-day markup. I get that she doesn't like the law, but she's flatly lying about the way it was passed.

The First Step Act was signed into law three years ago today. Congress needs to take another step. Thereโs so much we can do to positively impact peopleโs livesโsuch as retroactive sentencing reforms and second chance initiatives. Put petty politics aside and pass more

This makes my blood boil. Matthew Charles was released from prison. Heโs rehabilitated, and he canโt get a place to live. How do we expect those who are coming out of prison to become productive citizens if they canโt find housing?
Here's a great reminder why constantly abused warrantless surveillance shouldn't be in the freakin' NDAA: FBI misused surveillance tool on Jan. 6 suspect, BLM arrestees, and others

The culture wars are so exhausting. Right and left just canโt seem to stop themselves from escalation. Isnโt it tiring to be so angry all the time? Professional grifters are profiting off that anger.
During my sophomore and junior years in high school, I refused to stand for the pledge of allegiance. It was a form of protest for me. I was around 15 or 16 years old, and I had a lot of anger over my dadโs death.
Sad day at home. Our fearless little cat, Dagny, had to be put down after her kidneys failed. This an old photo, but itโs one of my favorites of her.
NDAA has passed Congress for 62 consecutive years. NDAA for FY 2024 may change that because of the inclusion of the extension of FISA. I don't think any of the groups opposing NDAA would otherwise do so. It's clear that passage is in jeopardy if the Senate keeps FISA in the bill.
There's a lot being said about
@RandPaul
and
@SenMikeLee
, who are offering separate amendments to the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act. Most Republicans and Democrats want to go the lazy route and not allow amendments to be considered.
The First Step Act was a huge accomplishment, not just for this administration and the groups involved, but for prisoners who have a shot at redemption. That bill is now law. We have much more to do, including implementation of the law and, hopefully, more

work.

My dad passed away 26 years ago today. I was 12 when he died. I didn't really deal with his death until I was well into my 20s. Although today, and the days around it, have gotten easier with each passing year, it's still a little tough.
Imagine pretending to be a libertarian and claiming that the propaganda arm of the state, that sells its wars, is nowhere near as evil as a podcaster kid who triggers you (intentionally btw).
I couldnโt think of a better example of how wokeism poisons libertarianism.
I'm not a fan of Trump, but I applaud his commutation of Alice Johnson's sentence. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a commutation for
#MatthewCharles
. If you haven't already, Evan, read about him here and help us fix this injustice.
Trumpโs pardons are not only intended desensitize the electorate to frequent interventions on behalf of his political allies, but also to make a mockery of the federal justice system, to suggest that law enforcement and the courts are incapable and illegitimate to begin with.
The Maduro government has waged a violent crackdown on Venezuelan civil society, violated the constitution by dissolving the National Assembly and was re-elected last year in an election many observers said was fraudulent. The economy is a disaster and millions are migrating. 1/3
Some of

Had the privilege tonight to meet Matthew Charles, who was the first beneficiary of the First Step Act. Such an incredibly nice man who says we still have a lot of work to do to reform the criminal justice system.
So,
@RepAdamSchiff
is trying to stop the markup of FISA reauthorization because he's worried about bipartisan amendments that would protect Americans' civil liberties will be adopted. If this is how he's going to play, then it's time to let 215 expire.
1) Record number of closed, structured rules that prevent members from representing their districts through the amendment process.
2) Backroom spending bill written by leadership, appropriators of both parties.
Yeah, man. It's totally about ambition. /sarcasm
