#Writing is about momentum (for me). If I'm stuck, I start writing the easy & mechanical parts of a paper (variables, results, table descriptions). That gets me going. And when the wheels are rolling, I can move on to harder & more creative parts (introduction, arguments, etc.)

Viewing #immigrants as *only* #labor (like this policy) is self-defeating. All of us (not just immigrants) are also consumers, investors, taxpayers, ideas generators, etc in the economy. If you get that, you need not fear new people. Quite the opposite!

For me, the most useful principle in finding work-life balance is this: The scarce resource in research jobs isn't time. It's insight! Therefore, we must seek to maximize the inputs that enhance our insight instead of maximizing time, which is not the most important input.

1/7 This isn't about protecting us from COVID19. It's a political move to advance a long-standing agenda. The real aim is for it to go beyond "temporary." This ban would seriously hamper the ability of the US to recover from this crisis. Some facts:
