Cloud is no longer waiting for anyone's approval. He is now asking Barret and Tifa to focus on the mission. He is now asking Barret to go and protect Aerith. He even tells Aerith to tell him the truth quite boldly. He went from having no agency to having a purpose.

Cloud and Aerith having Zidane's and Garnet's outfit respectively is not the be all and end all of what's to be considered canon. However, it is certainly a huge marketing push. I do understand why Tifa cannot be Garnet as it would be too awkward for her using a staff or Garnet

It's clear how some people have ZERO understanding of the story. Aerith NEVER bragged about her good deeds. She was being flippant about it to allow Cloud the opportunity to let his own kindness shine.

I think some people have such high levels of delusion that they think they still know where the story is going to go 100% for part 2 and 3. No amount of SE pushing it to their faces will make them accept what's in front of their noses.

All I’ve learned today is that the people who think Aerith will live in #FF7R are simply Aerith fans. Or Cleriths. There’s an inherent bias there. Its just what they want cuz it’s there fave character. Or they think it’ll be different cause OG was “too sad”. Weird takes.

With the one with Cloud and Aerith, everything starts really different. Aerith starts of to convince Cloud that she was fine. But instead of agreeing, Cloud countered by asking if being in Shinra was better than "here". To which Aerith cannot counter argue. One WIN for Cloud.

@ThePromisedLan7 The biggest moment for me is that when Elmyra sent him away. But Aerith ambushes Cloud and tells him she wants to spend more time with him. This is why his heart sways. And he got really emotional that he got a vision of Aerith going away and he cries.

Great highlight! Makes me want to talk about Cloud again. LOL. Cloud didn't really copy a personality but created a persona based on what he considered is his ideal and then he got lost in it. However, he still constantly had to act the part just like when he was a kid.

Another thing to note is that fate has been breached twice. One at the end of Remake and another at the end of Rebirth. Aerith breaches fate in Remake by opening a portal in the crossroads. I now assume she was able to do this via her white materia. Whilst Cloud breached fate

It's not surprising because this part of the story held like 20% of the plot. People thought the Midgar part was short but that was like 50% of the plot of the game. Hence part 1 was very plot driven whilst part 2 is more of an adventure with plot sprinkles up until the last 2

I think my main problem with Rebirth has to do with its inability to create a sense of urgency until endgame. Remake's story was so good because its paced so that you constantly feel this tension looming around and it only gets stronger once you hit the mid point (1/7)

This scene becomes more significant with Cloud saying he needs to get back to Sector 7. The fact that he is just at the entrance of Sector 7 and he decides to turn all the way back speaks to how Cloud really feels vs what he says.

Even when Tifa seemed to be heading for trouble Cloud simply trusted that she would be alright. I am sure he was worried, but he was told not to go so he didn't insist. When Aerith insisted they go, he also went along. At this point Cloud really is just tagging along as always.
