i really hate to comment on this type of thing but to say "trust me" when you're wrong is just spreading misinformation. cloud didn't leave tifa for 2 years. he left after contracting geostigma and had severe PTSD along with survivor's guilt.

that idea was finally expanded into a feature length movie that we know today as Advent Children. In addition to that, Nojima-san provided the backstory in the novella "On the Way to a Smile" where we can see Cloud, Tifa, Danzel, and Marlene were living together as a family.
