Y’all. The Vice President of Student Affairs at Frostburg State University just picked Kamari Felton up and is driving him to school. “We felt horrible about the way it happened”, he said. Kamari is going to college!!!

Lauren Boebert, a Colorado right-wing gun extremist and bigot, bears responsibility for the “lawlessness” that killed at least five people and wounded 18 more in Colorado Springs last night.
I am walking out in solidarity with my colleagues, but also because our local readers -- our community, the people who read about their schools, their roads, city council, state houses, neighborhoods, neighbors -- are about to see their local news staff gutted in these buyouts.

have been in contract negotiations with our bosses for 18 months.
But the company is refusing to pay us what we’re worth or bargain in good faith.
So on Dec. 7, we’re walking off the job for 24 hours.
Our newsroom at The Post is in high security alert and in Annapolis, the mood among reporters is grim. This must be how American school kids feel everyday.

Howard Liebengood is the second Capitol Police Officer to die after the riot, an apparent suicide. He was there protecting Senators, he was 51 and loved Downton Abbey. I believe this is a photo from his wedding. There is a lot of blood on a lot of hands from this travesty.

This is so incredibly sad. You’ve don’t such a terrific job with KidsPost all these years and I don’t understand why we’d cut one of the gems that was so pure in purpose and important for outreach to future readers.
When you're pissed at election results and you understand government, you get to work and take over the whole damn thing in four years. When you don't understand it, you scream and break windows and storm the capitol and get arrested. Learn civics.
@shannonrwatts
Even if you’ve already read it in paper form, it’s a tour de force as an audiobook because he is such a compelling voice actor and linguist. The boys and I have listened to it, like, three times it’s so good!
Yes, this working/parenting thing can be a mess sometimes. I botched it at work this week. But my bold kid rocked with his band on Sunday and yesterday he was on stage at the Kennedy Center, nominated for two theater awards - won both. Take the wins when they come, parents!
Let's hear it -- what got you in trouble with the Capitol Police? In 20 years on the Hill, my kids and I have been in trouble for bottled water, bike riding, sledding, ball-throwing and Goldfish crackers.
This insane gift basket from my bosses came today. Not because it happens to be my 22nd anniversary here, but because I was a tiny part of the army of journalists at the Capitol Jan. 6. They gave us the Ben Bradlee award for courage. Hardest fought Smokey Blue cheddar of my life.
I met my grandmothers just twice. So yeah, I made an unreasonable, ill-timed trip to get my older son to Prague, so he could walk through his grandmother’s hometown streets holding her hand, to see it through her eyes. No regrets.

An editor I once worked with many years ago was sorting through resumes and said aloud: "A 4.0? That tells me this guy never worked at the college paper. No thanks."
This was a funny story. A reader who was moved by my column on Kamari Felton started a GoFundMe to help get him to college. She'd never done this and within minutes, it was flagged as possible fraud. I connected the two and it's legit. And sweet.
Entitled Jaywalkers pervade DC, especially on Capitol Hill. But today one guy surprised me when he darted into the crosswalk in front of my grill, saw his red light and 180’d a hasty retreat back on the curb. He put his hand up and mouthed “sorry!” No worries, Senator Booker.

I am 💯 with you and asked these very questions. There are mechanisms in place that should’ve helped him. It seems to be a change of culture, not letter. Too many people didn’t realize that for a guy like Kamari, a “No” may sound final. He needed to appeal, but didn’t know to.
And we know who turned out today to make sure that debt was honored, right? Thank you, black, female voters, for doing right where so many white women did not. Again.

, TODAY we honored the debts of justice & boldly cashed a check marred in the blood of Black & White freedom fighters. So grateful the sacrifice of my ancestors proved not to be in vain—TODAY, stars & grace fell on Alabama.

One of the proudest moments of my life was when I was able to introduce my mom to Madeleine Albright — they are both from the same part of Prague — and she told mom that she liked my columns. An extraordinary woman, for all women. Rest In Peace, Madame Secretary.
Even if you believe that drunk 17-year-old boys do stupid and felonious things that shouldn’t follow them their whole lives, the failed test of true character comes when a grown man continues to revel in these things, which this man has done repeatedly in very public ways.
Brett Kavanaugh talking about his high school in 2015: “What happens at Georgetown Prep, stays at Georgetown Prep.”
I can't imagine any parent accepting this view. Is this really what America wants in its next Supreme Court Justice?
His friends -- together since kindergarten -- kept one, horrible secret to themselves for years. That inspired him to help sexual assault victims fight back, with technology.

A Harris County grand jury just declined to charge a Texas man who unintentionally shot and killed a 9-year-old girl while allegedly trying to shoot a robber at an ATM. His lawyers said their client had a right to “protect himself from the robber.”

Because DC is not a state, prisoners are handed over to the federal system, where they do time in California or Texas or Montana — far from visitors and support. Statehood would fix that.

My poor parents — evacuating Tahoe now — so painful going through the process (“What do we take??!!”) over the phone with my mom… “Just yourselves and the beagle, mom!” Go! Go!

Total, 100 percent props to DCPS on handling this. My son’s test pick-up was smooth, the process was easy and kids are back in their classrooms today. Whew.
Wonder if the folks who wave posters of aborted fetuses at schools will start showing up at gun shops with posters of the bloody corpses of children massacred in their classrooms?

I miss the kid so much - had no idea it’d be so hard. The car smells like hockey today. Is it a phantom smell, like he’s reaching out to me? Get a grip. He’s in college, not dead. I imagine how gutting a real loss is for a parent. I’ll shut up. And find what’s rotting in my car…
@petulad
continues to be one of the best, most humane and honest journalists in the game covering homelessness. She never fails to wade through the BS, misinformation and tired stereotypes to find the heart of the story. Thank you.
Instead of BEACH WEEK and brewskies, Brett Kavanaugh needed to work as a waiter one summer. Or in retail. That would’ve knocked the smirk off his face.
We went coast-to-coast, visiting schools that have what he wants— a top-10 game design program and a strong psych department. I watched his face and knew when he found home. It took him more than a year to reach the same conclusion, but he finally did. Hello
