I visited the production site of Walton Hi-Tech Industries and was impressed by their vision, commitment + use of modern technologies. Good work place conditions. They export high quality electronic products to Germany. To me they showcase the new, modern Bangladesh.

Police shouldn't suppress striking garment workers. It's up to the factory owners to negotiate. Give fair wages and safe working conditions. Establish an accident insurance. Don't hide behind the government.

This comes after #Bangladesh authorities confirmed - as per @AFP - that one worker was killed, 50 injured on Tuesday after police fired rubber bullets/ tear gas at thousands of garment workers protesting in Dhaka’s textile-dominated industrial belts of Savar, Ashulia and Gazipur.

With the Minister of Local Government on the Meghna river. We all want to accelerate the project to provide clean water from the Meghna for Dhaka city. Financed by Germany, France, Denmark, EU with over 550 Million USDollars. Meghna river needs to be protected from pollution.

Indeed, opening the borders and hosting the Rohinga refugees is an extraordinary humanitarian achievement. There was pressure and many efforts to make a return possible but in vain. No impunity for ethnic cleansing !
