๐ฐFirst come, first served:
There have been several rumours and attacks made against me and The Simba Group Of Companies on both social and mainstream media stemming from the Vantage Loan Saga.
In this open letter, I share my truth as to what truly transpired.
Tips for 2019:
-Where you see a future don't fail to invest.
-Where you see a future don't fail to sacrifice.
-Where you see a future don't fail to endure.
-Where you see a future don't fail to persist.
-Where you see a future don't fail to believe.
Despite what many believe, I was not a natural businessman. I went into business out of necessity and I failed many times. What brought me where I am today is GRIT. No matter how many times I failed, I picked myself up and tried again. May you learn to do the same.
The last few days have been tough for both the group & I, as we have made news for all the wrong reasons.
There are things that I am unable to speak about, especially on Social Media but when the time is right, I shall address them.
I shall face these challenges & resolve them.
The other day I read somewhere about practising the โpause.' When in doubt, pause. When angry, pause. When tired, pause. When stressed, pause. And when you pause, pray. In that pause, you can clear your mind and make a better decision.
Today am glad to see young people choosing business as a first choice and not allowing society to tell them that if you want to be successful you should be doctor, lawyer, lawyer or engineer. Think outside the box and build a career from what you are passionate about.
When you are starting up a business, donโt expand too fast. Keep the company small to manage it well, because the earlier years are the most crucial. Build your empire, ONE STEP AT A TIME. Happy Labour Day!!
"There are three qualities that every individual must have to achieve success: a Monk's patience, a Warriorโs courage, a Childโs imagination."__Shared Vivek Sagar
Blessed ๐ Week.
I promised myself that I would not get married before making a hundred thousand dollars, and at 29 I did it. Iโm not saying that you should have the same goal, but you have to set your own objectives. Commit to you goals and that will drive you forward.
Instant gratification is killing us, people graduate from the universities and they feel entitled. โIโm entitled to a job now, car now, a house nowโ - you canโt do everything now. Youโve got to plan and work on your road map to get to where you want to be. ONE STEP AT A TIME.
I don't encourage you to borrow if its your first time in business. Save & begin small. Too often we borrow because we want to begin too big & too ambitious. If you start big, you risk a big fall. First learn on a small scale. Make mistakes & lose a little before risking more.
Use the first 25 years of your life as a learning ground. That is what itโs for. Allow yourself to be built up and sharpened for the years ahead of you. What you learn today could solve your problems tomorrow.
People underestimate social capital: your network of people, friends & contacts. I have found this to be very valuable in business. Maybe you lack money, land, machines, but you can still build up your social capital & use that to get closer to achieving your goals.

Joshua Cheptegei does it again!
With unwavering determination and an indomitable spirit, he claims his third successive 10,000m gold.
Your triumph teaches us that with dedication and perseverance, we can conquer any challenge.
Congratulations!
Not every entrepreneur can start a business immediately after school. Itโs okay to get a job if thatโs the best option for you. Take the job, work hard and learn everything your employers can teach you, then leave while you still have the energy to create something great.
To be wealthy, you must learn "the principle of accumulating money." Earn more and spend less. Often people have a false hope that they will be lucky and get rich overnight, but sustainable wealth is accumulated over time. It takes patience, strategy and effort to grow money.
Thank you to all our staff, customers and stakeholders, your support towards Simba Group is heart-warming.
I urge you to disregard the fake news. This attack is intended to cause reputational damage.
The laws of Uganda have been upheld and none of our properties are for sale.
There is no one who invests in people genuinely and regrets. You can never go wrong when you give value to people. Take time off today to spend it with your loved ones. Time is the best gift you can ever give someone you love.
The greatness of tomorrow begins with the sacrifice of today:
If you need to live in a one room house today to own an estate tomorrow please do!
If you need to ride a tricycle today in order to distribute a Rolls Royce tomorrow Please do!
Learn to sacrifice!

Take a chance and pursue your dreams early. You will make mistakes, yes. You will fall, but your scars will be evidence that you overcame.
Have a great week of growth!
I want to thank all my colleagues, business partners, staff, & other Simba Group stakeholders for the warm responses and feedback after I made my public statement about the dispute with one of our business partners, Vantage Capital.

"Discipline is the secret to success, discipline in all that you do.
Rise early every day, rise with sun at worst, do not play catch up.
Build your confidence day by day by the deeds you do, build honesty and integrity for the rest of your life."

The 5 people you spend most of your time with, is whom you end up becoming. Spend time with people who add value to you, be it finance, health or character, you will pick up on those traits and be better.
When Noah was building the ark, he relied on faith, but he still had to measure the timber or else it would come out wrong. Have faith in your abilities and the grace of God, but still put in the work and be careful with your decisions to steer yourself in the right direction.
As the saying goes, do not ask the Lord Almighty to guide your footsteps if you are not willing to move your feet. In life, no matter the intensity of the challenges you face, you need to learn to move.
The beginning of most businesses is really hard. Itโs like trying to push a car. The beginning is hard, but as you keep pushing and the car gains momentum, it gets easier. Business is like that. The beginning is tough, but as you keep pushing, it gets easier. Donโt give up.
โA man who does no hard work will never know the value of rest.โ- African Proverb
Never look to attain success the easy way, because such success doesnโt last. When you put all your sweat into building something, you value it more and will nurture it to last for generations.
Everything in life starts with a dream. Add faith, it becomes a reality. Add action, it becomes a part of your life. Add perseverance and it becomes a goal. Add patience and time and it ends with a dream come true. Live a meaningful, purposeful, fulfilling life, starting today.
Ugandans don't wholesomely embrace a reading culture. We only read to pass exams. Make it your purpose to gather information. Read Times, Economist, newspapers. Search the internet for useful things. In today's world, we have endless opportunities to build "intellectual capital."
As your business grows and becomes sophisticated, you must learn to employ people who are smarter than you. That way you can comfortably leave them in charge, because you can trust that they will take good care of your business.

Learn to start with what you have. The entrepreneural spirit doesn't wait for the perfect day to start a business but rather starts small with a vision for growth.
"He who hunts two rats, catches none." - a Ugandan proverb. Focus your energy on what you are trying to accomplish. Learn everything you can about the subject, work hard, put in the time and persist through challenges to achieve your dreams.
Setting up a business is easy. Failing, even easier! Business failure in Uganda is very high, because people don't research. Read. Ask smart people. Test it mentally. Think about what can go wrong. The environment out there is ruthless. Think it through first and seek guidance.
One of the biggest temptations businessmen face is wanting to start very many businesses.
When I started business, I did the same but my times were different. There were many vacuums in Uganda. Today this is not the case.
Be good at it. Only then can you diversify.
It's important to keep climbing. Donโt reach a certain level and get comfortable, because your needs are sorted. You have a responsibility to keep growing. We get content too quickly; keep up that hunger to do more for your country.
โCut your coat according to the cloth you haveโ.
Today I see many Ugandans trying to compete with other people by living beyond their means. This is usually a recipe for disaster. Learn to live on less than what you have and only then can you save, invest and prosper.

I encourage young Ugandans to go out there and start businesses that create jobs. We need more creative ideas and solution to common problems. Grab that opportunity. Take that risk. Postpone some comfort today to invest in future returns.
As we head into, the weekend:
Learn to build your social capital
Make friends, help them and make a positive impact on their lives
This will build you a good reputation, that backs up your business life.
Have alovely Friday.

Have a very fruitful week ahead!
At every stage of life, you will encounter things you know and those that challenge you. However, be open minded, eager to learn and donโt be afraid to fail because therein lies great opportunity for you learn and grow. Have a great week.
Many people underestimate the power of "social capital" - your network of friends and contacts. In my father's 44 years, he built such a strong network. That challenged me to build my own social capital by touching peopleโs lives so I too could open doors for the next generation.
Tune into CNN Market Place Africa between this Friday and Monday to watch a recent interview about my business journey with Simba Group and the lessons I've learned along the way. Check with your TV provider for the times.
Everyone is looking for that one opportunity that will change their lives. The thing about this is that many have already come across that opportunity. Opportunities rarely look like opportunities. They may even come in the form of a crisis. Learn to see them for what they are.
โI have never viewed poverty as a problem but as a challenge. Poverty never pulled me back; on the contrary, it propelled me forward.โ - Reginald Mengi
Donโt let the situation youโre in define you; let it be the driving force to push you to achieve your dreams.
Be in the habit of chasing after knowledge.
Learn from reading books or articles.
Learn from searching for information online.
Learn from what is going on around you.
The habit of learning will build you up to become a problem solver, and the world needs more of that.
โYou have to form good habits .
Your intellectual will stop somewhere, but your habits will protect you .
Become a creature of good habits.โ

Vanity is dangerous. It causes people to think small and act big instead of thinking big and acting small.
This is why when you come to my hotel and I notice that the waiter is not available to serve you, I will do so joyfully.
You must never be too big to do a small thing.
Africa is the most blessed continent in the world; however, her people are blind to this fact. It manifests in the number of people running abroad to pursue opportunities there, while foreigners are coming into Africa to exploit the opportunities we have failed to even notice.
Many of the youth today focus on becoming doctors and engineers.
Though there is nothing wrong with this, we also need a portion of the next generation to focus on entrepreneurship.
Only by doing this can we guarantee jobs for the next generation of doctors and engineers.
Never forget the art of โsellingโ. Every day you are selling yourself to different clients, business partners. I had to be able to sell myself to my wife to convince her I was the man for her! Always be ready to sell. It's not a business unless you can sell it.
In life you need to be a quick decision maker. I have been around the world of business for some time and I can tell you when you see an opportunity and hesitate, you miss out. To survive and thrive in business, you have to train your mind to think quickly.
In todayโs world, with the right mindset you can reach heights that others canโt, simply because you do not limit yourself mentally. Your background and degrees can matter, but your determination to break boundaries will matter more!

Being a father is a great joy & responsibility. I call upon all fathers to avoid toxic masculinity. Don't let pride or ego get in your way. Always be considerate to others esp the weaker ones in society. The females, less fortunate & disabled etc. Be a real man. Be a real Father!
You must create a positive energy around you to keep out negative influences. All kinds of people will come your way. Some people call it juju, but you need something - whether it is prayer or yoga or time with loved ones - you must build the right personal energy to succeed.
Are you a job seeker? You'll need to sell yourself to be employed.
When I'm hiring, I look for a few key things:
1. Hard working
2. Honest
3. Smart
4. Problem solver
For practice, you can reply with an example from your past showing you have what it takes.

Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach. - Tony Robbins
Sticking to one way of doing things even when it fails never yields results. Donโt change your goal when things fail, change your approach.
Being rich is a state of mind. If you have a positive can-do attitude, are resourceful & disciplined, you will always be rich.
You may not have money in your pocket now, but that situation can change. Once you have the right habits & mindset, youโll succeed in the long run.
The thoughts you have become your word, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, and your habits become your character. Protect what you feed your mind, because those thoughts become your reality.
When you start early, you get more productive hours in the day. When you learn, work and try things earlier in life, you make mistakes early enough that there isnโt yet so much to lose and still room to grow and apply the lessons learned.
โRising early makes the road short.โ
There is no one who invests in people genuinely and regrets. You can never go wrong when you give value to people.
Take time off today to spend it with your loved ones. Time is the best gift you can ever give someone you love.
Merry Christmas .
Always remember: it's never too late to start something. Even at 60, if you decide to do something and its in your best interest, go forward with it. Donโt let anyone stop you from pursuing your dreams.
When someone gives you a โpresentโ, itโs considered a gift. Likewise, every day is a gift that you ought to enjoy. Donโt focus so much on tomorrow that you negate your today. Be present and enjoy it to the fullest.
