Batman's reaction when Gordon says "kid found him" gives me chills every time. Every cop just wants to question the Mayor's son, Bruce fights back the urge to go comfort him and tell him he understands his pain. It's all told in the eyes and it's phenomenal.

One thing I love about Batman RIP is how Grant Morrison recontextualises the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh. Not only is it a failsafe in Bruce's mind to allow him to still be Batman, but the name is revealed to be a mishearing of Thomas Wayne's final words before his death. So clever.

This logic of "The Avengers are the A-Tier and every big Marvel villain is theirs" is so counterproductive. The Avengers have a lot of big villains, and so do the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, etc. Apocalypse is an X-Men villain and the X-Men are more than capable of stopping him.

Apocalypse is too big of a threat for a standalone X-MEN movie...he's easily an AVENGERS-level threat, and if you give them like five years to get to him ready, audiences won't care that Fox attempted a version. He's up there with Thanos and Doom.

I think a lot of the "Secret Wars is going to be bigger than Endgame!" takes are seriously missing the point of why comic fans love the story so much. It's not because it's big and epic, it's because it's deep, emotional and pays off a story Marvel had been telling since 1962.

The original 1984 Secret Wars story is very much a straightforward "look at all these characters crossing over!" story (and one solely created to sell action figures). It's a fun book, but Hickman and Ribic's Secret Wars is Marvel's best event comic because it's so much more.

Peach Momoko is brilliant, I loved her work on Ultimate X-Men #1 . Just because something isn't the usual superhero art doesn't mean it isn't valid or just as good as other styles. Also, that's David Finch on Ultimate X-Men, not Hitch. At least know what you're complaining about.

Obviously the US, Canada and Mexico still exist as the North American Union, but if this is the geopolitical set-up for the Ultimate Universe, the thought of Captain America being not just a man lost to time but a literal nomad fighting for a country that's long gone is rad.
