This video is bad because he says “anime isn’t only for white people” but it never was. Anime is japanese and is very typically asian. Like make whatever edits you want but like you shouldn’t erase who the actual demographic is here
Fates is starting to have what I like to call the Naruto effect where new people experiencing the media for the first time without being there for initial backlash are completely baffled as to why people hate it because those criticisms were stupid to begin with
just beat chapter 15 of conquest, which i was previously told corrin does something really stupid in
...am i not getting something? because it sounds like she's just doing what she's told?
The COPE is over it’s finally here! Welcome to the world of the ONE PIECE live action. We can’t wait for you to meet our Straw Hat crew. Eiichiro Oda’s epic masterpiece is about to come to life like never before! ONE PIECE sets sail on Augusts 31st.
#TUDUM
Also OP is asian not white. Listen I’m all for blending of cultures and shit like that but if you’re not fucking careful with this shit you run the risk of being orientalist so don’t do that
@Dauragon
Yeah like the reason Japan has 2 different languages(one for work and the other for casual speak though I think there’s a third one) is because of how much importance they put on avoiding cringe and disrespecting others
@Yeenie_Mcbeenie
The fact that gwen’s dad resigned, Miles being set to lose his dad, peter having a kid with MJ, the fact that both of Miles’s universes haven’t exploded, etc. the list goes on and I can’t wait to see how it all pays off
@BepDelta
I mean if you’re a mangaka working on a weekly/monthly deadline with only like 1-2 hours of free time period then you’d probably be single too just saying
@JekoJekoUEM
“Dance routines in the live action were phenomenal and I doubt they could do that in a cartoon”
H-Has she even watched animation before or know anything about how it works? Cause I severely doubt that she does
Like my issue whenever this conversation comes up is that it’s always framed as a black vs white person issue when 90% of the time the characters in question are from JAPANESE or otherwise asian media yet we’re just left out of the conversation
Thing is had she been honest about it from the start most people would’ve still sided with her because even $15K is still a poultry amount all things considered in an industry as hostile and competitive as VA work but no she just had to lie and ruin the conversation for everyone
Former Bayonetta voice actor Hellena Taylor now confirms my reporting that she was offered at least $15,000 and that the final offer was for a cameo, despite the claims in a video that went viral last week:
It’s a trick question because it’s the same design the only difference is that strikers takes place one year after the original game so Haru from that game is around 18-19 years old while OG Haru is 17
I am tired of people saying “character did morally bad thing therefore bad character” like you ever stop to consider that was the goddamn point! Like Y’know they did a morally questionable thing which drives the plot forward and showcases their flaws. That’s how stories work!
Naruto haters: *actually lie about the series*
Naruto fans: “that’s not true though because of *shows manga panels proving claim to be false*
Haters: “Oh wow Naruto fans sure can’t take criticism!! Naruto isn’t perfect you know!!”
@TamashiiHiroka
Like I don’t even find her attractive personally. I just find the whole one track mind of wanting to always improve and find a rival worthy of yourself endearing. Also she’s just super naive and it makes for some moments near the end of the game
Okay this is blowing up and I just wanna clarify right now that I am Chinese/Vietnamese so I don’t want anyone saying I have no right to speak up about this shit
@adybpt
Chainsaw does well because it explicitly markets itself as not family friendly. That’s the explicitly stated reason why Jump didn’t immediately axe it because they know young boys like that edgy shit
@Shock_and_Roll
Y’know what this isn’t bad. It still keeps that flamboyant energy present with the original scene while also not coming off as creepy. Not bad Atlus US not bad
The Fire Emblem fanbase has always been sexist but it had been rather subtle and subdued then 3H happened and tore open that festering wound like a kid into presents on Christmas morning
How the narrative that paying for crunchyroll somehow “sUpPoRtS tHe iNdUsTrY!!” became so wide spread is absolutely ludicrous ESPECIALLY considering the origins of the site. If you truly want to support this industry donate to charities and buy merch straight from japan
Crunchyroll does not exist for anime fans, it exists for its shareholders
It takes your money on behalf of shareholders
All you're supporting is execs, not our subculture
Something that’s important to always consider in regards to localization is that Japanese is very context sensitive so when translated directly it sounds really plain. “Character voice” doesn’t translate well which is why punching up dialogue like this is important
God this page makes me feel nothing but pain. Gaara’s dream in the infinite tsukuyomi was that his father actually cared for him and that he and Naruto were childhood friends. My heart!!!
In light of this recent news. This is the reason why I hold nothing but respect for mangaka or just artists in general. They work their asses off to share their stories and regardless of how you personally feel about them or their work that dedication deserves respect
How are either of those things ANY DIFFERENT?! I’m starting to get tired of this double standard of
Male power fantasy = incel trash
Female power fantasy = empowering
Like they’re both power fantasies?! What the hell is the difference
@FEConversations
To anyone who isn’t aware of this, Kitsune in shinto mythology are messengers of Inari who is a kami of agriculture, wealth, and industry. So basically the joke here is that people are making Offerings to Selkie hoping it will bring them good fortune as she is a kitsune
@Shock_and_Roll
Like they still very much fit that gay stereotype but it’s portrayed more in a positive light than a negative one. It’s the subtle nuances Y’know
I despise “just turn your brain off” as a defense of anything cause it isn’t a defense. It’s more like an insult. So you’re telling me there’s nothing of value in this movie and that I should just turn my brain off? I don’t about you but that sounds rather dismissive
Wanna know the exact moment I checked out if the Edelgard video? It’s the minute he said “then you have another black mark on Edelgard’s legacy. Her horrible mistreatment of Dimitri” and at that point I immediately knew what this whole thing was about
Maybe we wouldn’t get so defensive if y’all didn’t get so much wrong about her character in the first place just to demonize her and feel morally superior
I don’t tend to follow trends but I felt this would be fun:
What’s a moment from a Fire Emblem Support conversation that doesn’t FEEL Real, but IS Real
(You can just pick specific moments since there are games that don’t have support chains.)
@SoundCirclet
Yeah like I’m not against video games trying to mimic cinema because well that’s how mediums evolve by taking aspects of other mediums into themselves but I hate this pretentious mindset that games can only be taken seriously as a story telling medium if it mimics cinema
The idea that japan is more anti-lgbt is baffling to me. Yeah legally it’s not great but anime and manga have always had insanely well written and nuanced queer representation since the 80s. Japanese creatives have been experimenting with queer shit for decades now
The creators of shows like The Owl House, SU, etc. grew up with queer Shoujo and went on to finally break through our own shitty media landscape decades later. Don't forget that a lot of these series were too progressive for the US back then & had to be censored for kids to watch
It isn’t about “wanting to marry an 11 year old” it’s that no self-respecting author should for censorship period. Do you say the same about treehouse censoring F!Byleth’s S support with Edelgard to be less romantic? Because that’s effectively what you’re advocating for
this is why punching up dialogue in localization is important because character voice is delivered differently in JP and ENG and often times cannot be directly translated(a character using boku as opposed to ore is a good example) so you have to communicate it in a different way
Since localisations are fresh on the mind I think it's appropriate to talk about a mod I found a few months ago that uh. Removes any character 8-4 put into translating Echoes and leaves you with a direct translation of the Japanese script. Here's a few of the shown examples:
@adybpt
Yeah like my favorite Yuri Pairing is my second favorite OTP but I don’t write for it often because of how toxic and biphobic the other fans are so I write my straight pairing out of spite
Not only that Valla is also consistently referred to as hell in the japanese version and the vallites as demons which is an allusion to the spider’s web story in buddhist mythology where the buddha saw hell by peering through a lake and demons came out of the water
I really do hate the fact that whenever a Female character is well liked it’s automatically assumed to be for ONLY horny reasons which is ironically more mysoginistic than what these people accuse the author of
People who pick apart stories for every little plot hole/problematic aspect are no fun like I have to wonder what kind of story they consider good because they just nitpick everything to pieces. I don’t understand what these people want. Like no story is perfect
I feel like y’all are being too hard on her. There’s a world of difference between saying “I like this story but the sexual stuff makes me uncomfortable” vs saying “the sexy stuff in this story is problematic and shouldn’t exist”
i know the anime is literally ecchi and what do you expect, but marin from my dress up darling… she’s literally so cute and sweet, my daughter im sad she’s over sexualized smm both in the series and in fanart 😭😭😭
“Guys AoT is better than this because it’s dark, edgy, and DEEEP!!! It doesn’t have no goody two shoes protagonist or childish power of friendship nonsense!! It’s a serious story with serious themes!! Eren kills people because he’s an alpha sigma male chad!!”
this guy is such a cry baby holy shit. There are goosebumps moments but sometimes he just pisses me off so much. No wonder why I usually like the second best characters in anime (Bakugo or Kirishima in this one) . Same case with Naruto and his "Talk no Jutsu" bullshit. AOT is one
