بعت ماما للبنك الاهلي معاها الاقامة وختم الدخول للمملكة المتحدة وشهادة قيد من الجامعة بتثبت اني طالب دكتوراه بلندن حتى يتم فتح حد المشتروات على كارتي في الخارج لاغراض المعيشة ولكن البنك رفض وقال تعليمات البنك المركزي والحد ٢٠٠ دولار شهريا. يا ريت حد من البنك المركزي يقولي الحل؟

كل كام اسبوع انزل من بيتي في لندن الاقي شجر جديد اتزرع ومعموله تخشينات عشان ميطلعش مايل. وكل سنة الاقي الشوارع الي بجانب البيت بيتم تضيقها لتقليل سرعة العربيات عشان تكون امان اكتر للمشاه وتشجيعا للنقل البديل. الي مستغربه ان صفحة حي كامدن وصديق خان مش كاتبين عن الانجازات دي🙈

المرتبات في مصر في قطاع التعليم العالي وخصوصا للكفاءات الي ليها فرص تنافسية عالية محتاجة تضرب في ٨ ل١٠ عشان يكون ليها معنى. دكتور جامعي ايه ده الي يبقى مرتبه ٧-٨ الاف جنيه. ٢٢٠ دولار؟! وفوق ده لازم يجيب تمويل للابحاث ويسافر يحضر مؤتمرات وملوش انه يشتغل خارج الجامعة الا يومين.

مناطق زي مصر الجديدة، المعادي، العباسية هي الي السائح الي بيجي مصر بينجذب ليها (بعد المزارات). طابع خاص، قابلية للترجل، عمارة فريدة من نوعها، الخ. الي حصل في المناطق دي في اخر فترة من اول توسيع الشوارع بشكل فج للقضاء على كل ما هو اخضر، هيجي يوم ونرجعه لاصله، بس بعد دفع تمن باهظ.

Sent an email to Cairo Metro Line 3, asking if it’s possible to get on board with a foldable bicycle or an electric scooter. Unfortunately, the answer was no. But having a reply on the email alone is impressive; let alone getting the reply in less than an hour.

The replies to this tell you the absurd level of education people are getting. context: the uber driver accepted a ride then asked the client to wait for him until he perform his prayers- Many replies are like: “so what?” “You cancel,” “he’s a good guy,” “praying is a priority.”

It’s 7:00 in the UK. I woke up at 5:00 from a panic attack triggered by Cairo’s governor issuing a decree converting one of Heliopolis’ beautiful gardens - under construction for years now- to an ugly building featuring cafés and shops. Egypt deserves better than this mediocracy.

@Annooosaaa My mom is taking care of those beauties outside her house in addition to our 2 rescued dogs, Zaatar and Rosa. She’s leading a whatsapp group in the neighbourhood to sterilise and vaccinate them. Since then, they have been her best body guards.

الموضوع ده اثره واضح جدا دلوقتي على الهجرة الجماعية للدكاترة في منظومة الصحة والاكاديميين الي بيلاقوا زمايلهم الي متاخرين عنهم بيقبضوا ١٥ ل ٢٠ ضعف الرقم الي بيقبضوه جوا مصر. الاخطر ان حاليا بتتغير عقلية المصريين الي بيحاولوا يهاجروا من مجرد البحث عن عمل ثم العودة لهجرة نهائية.

الاجيال الجديدة من الاكاديميين والمتعلمين تعليم يسمحلهم بالتدريس في جامعات خاصة والسفر خارج مصر معندهمش حتة ان اشتغل في الجامعة تطوعي واصرف من جيبي، خصوصا ان قليل الي عنده مصدر دخل تاني. غير ان الفرص الي كانت بتتفتح للاكاديميين بالجامعات الحكومية لعمل استشارات بقت شحيحة ومش مجزية

Would love to see more capital channelled in small cities, such as the canal cities and al-Quseir. This would create urban magnets that take the financial and population pressures off Cairo and Alexandria, a much more efficient strategy than building new cities from scratch.

Had a private tour yesterday at the British Museum in the Hieroglyphs exhibition. Ilona Regulsk, the curator herself, was the one who showed us around. We had a chat and she informed me that Egypt never officially requested the repatriation of the Rosetta Stone.

A fully integrated system that involves urban planning, reformed banking schemes, and social justice is Egyptians only option for a better future. Otherwise, Egypt will not benefit from the current efforts whose benefits would - in the best case scenario- be temporary.

I’m impressed by Saudi’s 2030 vision. Women empowerment, modernisation, limiting religious authoritarianism, and opening up to the world. It’s changing a widespread stereotype. I remember as a kid in the 90s, Saudi was too conservative to open up even to Egypt popart.

اخيرا. طبعا انا مقدر تماما جهود وزارة التعليم في فتح جامعات اهلية مرتبتها اعلى. (قد تصل ل٥ اضعاف مرتبات الجامعات الحكومية).ولكن الموضوع مش بس مرتب. ميزة الجامعات الحكومية هي عراقتها وعدد الابحاث الكبير الي بتنشرها. الاكاديميين الي بيبنوا كارييرهم بينظروا مع المرتب لتصنيف الجامعة.

يجب ان تقوم اوبر بتعويض اهل حبيبة الشماع بعشرات الملايين، وده سهل جدا الاهل يحصلوا عليه من خلال التحكيم. اوبر كشركة هي مشتركة في ارتكاب جريمة قتل، حتى ولو لم يثبت ان السائق حاول اغتصابها. الشهادات دي ترجح رواية اهل حبيبة، والشهادات دي دليل ان موت حبيبة كان سببه سائق لم يتم فصله.

The way few Egyptian officials, some of which I truly respect, has reacted to Musk’s tweet is disappointing for me as an Egyptian. I felt Egypt is desperate for recognition from a controversial man, whose biggest achievement is making more money than he’ll ever need.
