I gave a talk on climate justice earlier this year to a European NGO. They asked, "What's the most practical demand you can suggest?" Me: Demand the withdrawal of US and European armies, shut down the bases, everywhere in the South. Them: No, really. What do you suggest?

Yeah I think we have to drop idea that crisis containment was core logic of Biden admin. This is an attempt at controlled demolition … closer to what they are doing to world economy and v China. Opportunistic for sure eg Ukraine, but fundamentally revisionist.

Without fossil energy, not only would "democracy" or the system of government be radically different, but entire states and societies would be different - in a way that we cannot even imagine.

Congratulations, @yanisvaroufakis - they’ve honoured you. The BND - whose ex-chief was exposed for far-right politics - probably put you their black book when you were challenging Schäuble in 2015.

The ultra-centralization of capital in end-stage monopoly capitalism makes today's inflation a new phase of class war. Why no environmentally-oriented scholars talking about this? #capitalocene #capitaloceno

Rising corporate profits were the largest contributor to Europe’s inflation over the past two years as companies increased prices by more than the spiking costs of imported energy.

The ecosocialist charge that #worldecology embraces an undialectical monism is false. For us, capitalism unfolds through differentiated unities and the 'interpenetration of opposites': bourgeois & proletarian, 'natural distinctness' & 'economic equivalence,' value & unpaid work,

History of the World in Seven Cheap Things by @_RajPatel & @oikeios This is a well-written book about how Capitalism has impacted our Earth. I love the depth of the historical details & the connections the book puts forward about our mundane habits - from care to work.

Capitalism's socio-ecological antagonism, for Marx, emerges through the class struggle in the web of life. As Engels and Marx insist, that conflict is not between "man" and "nature" but bourgeois and proletarian #capitalocene #capitaloceno

To accept "Man & Nature" as innocent description is to accept the imperialist definition of the problem. Capitalism is not a subset of Man/Nature. With Marx & Engels, we must insist on the deceptive innocence of "man in general." #capitalocene
