Worked, lived, played in 40 countries. Travel = antidote to prejudice. Built and run companies, I’m helping Govt use tech to investigate and prosecute now.
You guys do realize that Rick Perry, the guy who presided over the deregulation of the Texas power grid in 2002 ran our entire Department of Energy under Trump, right?
Props to the manager of Taco Bell on W. Grand in Oakland. Walking by, I saw an elderly Korean woman who was hungry. I asked her to go in and I’d buy dinner. She asked for enough to take back to her friends at a shelter. I bought 50 tacos and other stuff, the manager matched it.
I’m beginning to think those Executive Orders Trump did in 2017 loosening regulations on aircraft manufacturing and allowing them to self-regulate on a range of manufacturing and safety issues might not have been a great idea.
Hey
@Safeway
I’m giving you a last chance to respond before we dig in: Your entire system of “discounts” and “specials” requires apps, taking photos, scanning and so many other things that people like my blind mother can’t possibly participate in. By your own advertisements, 1/
Mike Johnson describing America as "dark, depraved and irredeemable" and that "I believe God is about to do something" is about the most disturbing thing I've heard from a person in power. This man has deep psychological issues and has no business being in office.
Nothing to see here, just Musk palling around with sanctioned Russian state TV anchor Nailya Asker-Zade who has called for the total annihilation of Ukraine.
Update thread: I spoke today with Jonathan who is VP of Operations at Albertson's, the parent company. After some apologies and pleasantries we jumped in. He defined the problem as being about getting Safeway's discounts (not manufacturers' coupons, which they can't control) 1/

If we hadn’t done that she would have been charged $14 more, just for this one trip. Your process is costing her more than $1,000 a year in lost savings, and I’m willing to bet a LOT of senior citizens are being overcharged intentionally.
Oopsie: Parscale forgot to put the "I am over 18" checkbox on the Tulsa signup screen so now he has the personal information of a million or so minors. So the Trump campaign is likely in violation of COPPA....
if you can’t participate in those activities you pay 20% more. I’ve got very direct, painful videos and documentation that your store management has zero training or even willingness to make accommodations for the visually impaired. I’d really, really suggest you engage.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist, not given to hyperbole. I’ve worked on US national security issues for decades. I’ve worked IN RUSSIA on those interests. It is not a joke, or an exaggeration, or an uninformed statement to say that the
@GOP
turn to supporting Russia will end us.
We need a law that says no SCOTUS Justice can get life saving medical treatment until a special tribunal of women has convened and carefully considered whether their life is worth saving.
Hey just today, we spent 25 minutes asking your store management to accommodate her. No one knew how, eventually an employee manually looked up how to apply discounts, made us ring up at the help desk, couldn’t ring up produce (that took a separate trip to another line) but 3/
@Hai_Babi
Some people become so invested in a view they can’t see reality. Often it’s a small thing that suddenly shatters that view and reality is laid bare...
I’ve never asked anyone to retweet anything on here, but I’m asking folks just this once: I’m going to take this on for the elderly and disabled community, who are being systemically overcharged by companies using this gamed system, and it’s not an accident.

That “He Gets Us” Super Bowl ad is part of a $1B Jesus PR campaign by the Servants Foundation. Can we all agree that people spending $1B on PR rather than actually spending it helping the poor don’t actually “get” Jesus?
I’m a huge supporter of labor and the Teamsters. For Sean O’Brien to show up at the RNC and say he’s bipartisan is insane. Republicans have done everything they can to destroy unions since 1980. He’s a naive loudmouth that will kill his menbers’ way of life.
Everyone:
I can't believe they've purged millions of voters!
I can't believe they've closed thousands of polling places!
I can't believe they've deliberately sabotaged the mail!
I can't believe they are limiting drop-boxes!
I can't believe it's this close!
Running against Government social programs by pointing out that you are alive and thriving because of Government social programs. C’mon Colorado, you know she’s a nitwit: Elect someone who can contribute rather than profit off of the office.
to get the discount. Safeway reaps profit every time that happens. Finally, reading Albertson's SEC filings is interesting: They don't operate on razor-thin margins, but run around 28% gross margins. It sees consolidation and market dominance is bad for us, good for them.
notices you, for example. He really gave a skeptical assessment of them making a system change, as everyone would want that code. I countered that there's 1.5 million people engaging with this Tweet, so that's a pretty strong indicator that folks don't like the system. 9/
That's not a threat, we just genuinely want to understand whether anyone has looked at whether all these programs are lawful, especially given they expect them to become more prevalent. In the end I'm asking them to draft their final response/solution and post it here 12/
So we left it at them calling me next Wednesday to talk about solutions that are more systemic rather than just having people to assist. I did let them know that the AG had messaged me, along with someone from DOJ Civil Rights and that mom wants to talk to them. 11/
@VirtualGems
@Safeway
Thank you for the support! I’m happily shocked that many people are reacting to this post, and I’m hopeful it will help me drive some change. I’m not one to jump into things lightly, but once I’m in I’m don’t give up.
Overall, the data that these programs generate must be hugely valuable as the cost of running them is quite high. The other observation is that they also fail often, and I'm sure Safeway can tell you exactly how many people bought items but didn't actually complete the steps
We talked about other options: What about offering "seniors hours" or published "assistance days" when they would staff up and have folks ready, visible and trained to help those with disabilities, and he allowed that could be interesting (mom doesn't really like that idea) 10/
comes with a long wait, less-than-happy staff and that I really don't think that's an answer. He suggested I call the store and let the know when we are coming, and they could be prepared to do this. I countered that this really doesn't seem scalable or reliable, and that 6/
they really could do a systemic solution that involved just giving her a "super code" that automatically overrides the system and gives her the maximum discount offered as if she had clipped, scanned, etc. Jonathan said that's the SVP of IT's area and that 7/
store personnel should be able to walk with mom and help her, acting as her eyes and scanning things for her to ensure she gets her discounts. We talked candidly about my/her experience that the stores are generally thinly staffed and that when she's tried that it generally 5/
I'll also try to post the feedback we get from the Government on here, especially given a few people who keep commenting that there's no way the Government has contacted us. They have, and when I understand what I can post I will. Not a lot of joy so far, but we're just starting.
@GeorgeTakei
I'm DONE with my "Biden 46 Challenge": I got 46 people who didn't or couldn't vote in 2016, or who voted for Trump, to the polls or done with their mail-in ballots, and made sure they were recorded. I hope everyone can find and help just one similar person, we will end this!

Breaking News: The Justice Department has renamed itself Barr & Associates. "We feel it is more aligned with our new role, and it gives us more freedom in representing our sole client, without the distraction of American citizens." a Spokesperson said.

They sabotaged the USPS to suppress the vote;
They called in poll watchers to suppress the vote;
They used an ill Kanye to dilute the vote;
They closed polls and limited drop boxes to suppress the vote;
Vote Biden, we must win

coupons, that require scanning, interacting with an app, etc. This is accurate. Jonathan did lay out flatly that the digital coupon thing is where the industry is going, and that we'll see more and more of this, and that manufacturers will also be going that way, so unless 3/
which seems fair enough, and he walked through the way things work: You get a level of discounts by being a "member" and providing your phone number at checkout (true) and we agreed that's not mom's issue. She has done that for a long time. The issue is with these new digital 2/
something forces a change away from this it's going to get much "worse", and for all grocery stores, as even places like Aldi or Lidl are going to have to deal with digital coupons. Jonathan's first approach is from an Ops perspective. He suggested that with proper training 4/
I’m betting if I looked at the data from
@safeway
it would clearly show that the percent of seniors who are members but don’t use digital coupons is way higher than younger, able-bodied folks. The data they so carefully collect likely shows the exclusionary effect of the system.
There are 2 local gun shops in my area who announced they will be closed tomorrow through inauguration. One owner says he had a high-volume of calls from out-of-towners wanting to know if they could fly in and purchase a gun or ammunition, he didn't want to be part of that. Bravo

There’s a reason for that: Companies use psychological studies that show if you see a possible discount, you’ll buy the product and mentally assume you got the price even if you don’t follow through with the steps to get it. Later, strangely, you’ll blame yourself for not
Look this isn't rocket science: If you want the south to wear masks then Budweiser, NASCAR and Chevy need to print up a couple hundred million branded masks and give them out, everybody down there already wears your shirts....
Ron DeSantis signs order turning off all traffic lights in Florida. “No one should be forced to stop their cars by Government order,” DeSantis said, adding “People can decide when to stop or go, this is about personal responsibility.”
If you’re an American agreeing with Putin that Ukraine is part of Russia because of 9th Century history you’d better be prepared to hand your home over to its rightful Native American tribal owners.

Ronald Reagan supported gun control, "cut" the top marginal tax to 50%, preserved National Parklands, strengthened the EPA and spent his presidency fighting Russia. WTF happened to the Republican party?

Dude we all watched you LAUGH OUT LOUD about Americans needing help. It's been since May. You're about to understand what it means to ignore America for your power plays....
Here's Senator Sherrod Brown's letter from May 2018 warning Trump that firing Adm. Ziemer from the NSC and dismantling the pandemic task force would cripple us during the "next, inevitable outbreak...."

@realDonaldTrump
The sad part is that, once again, the Dems will have to come in and repair an economy run into the ground by Republicans
Fun fact: Texas the fiercely independent State of rugged individualists, has declared disasters and asked for Federal assistance 360 times since FEMA was formed in 1953, more than any other state.
Please everyone: Turn off your TVs, walk away from the livestream. Make a snack, take a walk or pet your dog, but BOYCOTT TRUMP'S 5PM (eastern) PROPAGANDA SESSION!

@Safeway
And that’s my point: These programs are deliberately designed to exclude folks who “don’t matter” in marketing, and then charge them more.
We have a long way to go, but Peach wants to say thank you to Twitter. Over 1 Million people viewed our post about my 92 year-old mother seeking basic fairness, and that to me is the promise of this platform.
I’ll make you a deal: I’ll donate $1 to

Fun fact: Trump filed in FL court that Mar-a-lago was NOT his residence and that he promised never to live there in order to avoid residential property taxes, then used it as his address to vote....
Trump gets intell indicating hundreds of thousands of Americans will die due to a virus and does nothing; Trump gets intell that Biden will defeat him and he mobilizes every cabinet member and even foreign govts to frame up and discredit Biden at any cost. Any questions?
I donated, I hope you will consider donating too: Here's a site that is teaming with local restaurants to deliver hot meals (not just pizza) to the men and women of the Guard protecting our Capitol, and our Capital. Donations are matched:
