A dense fog advisory is in effect for areas west of I 69 this AM. Dense fog is developing in areas behind an eastward advancing cloud deck. Visibility of 1 mile or less is expected, with pockets of visibility less than one quarter of a mile. Expect improvement after sunrise.

Dense fog is likely for areas west of I 69 this morning, with several locations west of US 31 already reporting visibilities less than 1 mile beneath clearing skies. A cold front will bring chances for showers/isolated non-severe storms this afternoon east of I 69. Cool tonight:

Dreary weather tonight into Tuesday morning with low clouds and some patchy drizzle and fog. A front comes through on Tuesday with wind and rain showers, and possibly some storms in the afternoon. It will be mild and dry on Wednesday.

Here is a rough estimate on the timing of the stronger wind gusts today. Notice that it is expected to be a slow ramp up of the winds into the afternoon. Winds may also take some time to relax with gusts between 15 and 20 mph still possible, especially Saturday morning.

Windy today and tonight, with hazardous swimming conditions expected on Lake MI. A wind advisory is in effect for portions of northern Indiana, with northeast winds gusting up to 45-50 mph in the advisory area. Elsewhere, gusts of 35-45 mph are expected.

It won’t be great beach weather as the remnants of tropical cyclone Helene approach. As such, a high swim risk will be in effect for southeast Lake Michigan beaches on Friday. Off and on rain chances continue during the weekend.

As the remnants from the tropical system known as Helene creep northward, expect clouds to increase tonight in addition to increased rain chances into the weekend. Increased wind gusts are expected Friday as 35 to 45 mph winds could be observed. It won't be a washout this weekend
