With it being a holiday weekend with nice weather, it may seem like a great beach day but the water is deceiving. Heed all warnings from lifeguards, pay attention to beach flags, and stay out of the water/off the pier today as it is a High Swim Risk day on much of Lake Michigan!

Waves on southeast Lake Michigan are quickly increasing to 3 to 4 feet at local beaches this morning. Here's a look at Silver Beach in Berrien County, MI. Expect waves as high as 5 to 7 feet this afternoon, with strong rip/structural currents as well. Stay out of the water!

A cold front tracking across the region today will provide much cooler conditions for tonight and Labor Day. Dry weather is expected to persist into Thursday. In addition, strong north winds behind the cold front will result in dangerous swimming conditions for Lake MI beaches.
