Hey all!
We're looking to hire
@DetermMaterials
We’re hiring a Factory Foreman to help build and operate our commercial MicroRefinery facility in beautiful Pensacola, Florida!
Shoot me a message if you know anyone who may be a good fit!
@rmcentush
Maybe it’s something to do with a natural gravitational equilibrium between the two bodies.
The moon size and distance was shaped by the gravitational force between both sun and earth
Three body problem
Just a guess
Great question
@luke_metro
That’s true it’s not multiplying small probabilities as they are not independent “events”. Likely being one means you have a higher chance of being another.
Still overall low probability but shoot for the stars I say
@dumbbitchcap
Lol why is that?
So basically we need to wife up when we’re already a multimillionaire on the way to a billionaire but not yet a multibillionaire.
a peculiar thing has happened in the industrial real estate space
due to the loss of manufacturing over decades, industrial space to most, even brokers and the owners of the space, means warehouse space.
they don't associate the word industrial with "industry"
ie making things
This will take a while Gary
As ores decline in grade on earth, there’s an extremely high grade of ore located in every town, village, and city across our planet - the huge piles of waste electronics that Silicon Valley and other communities created over a generation or two…
This is like one of the biggest problem in the sciences/academia
At some point we started purposefully making things more complex and confusing than they need to be
It became about sounding intelligent rather than teaching people and sharing knowledge
The paper that led to the H-bomb is 20 pages long.
But sure, sure your ML preprint needs to be 72 pages and is too sophisticated to possibly be compressed.
midwestern VCs will openly ponder why all the capable founders migrate to hubs like SF and NYC and then request 3 months of diligence and 10% of a company for a $100k check
This is why you don’t just do uncontrolled burns of man made products.
When you uncontrol burn industrial chemicals or electronic waste (as is commonly the case), you produce Dioxins and other nasty chemicals which are toxic and hard to get rid of…
Dioxins are “a group of compounds that are persistent environmental pollutants,” according to the senators’ letter
A derailed tank of vinyl chloride underwent a "controlled" burn
Vinyl chloride decomposes into >60 different chemicals when burned, some of which are dioxins

@whatifalthist
What made you conclude the aryan migrations never happened?
Have you read “The Horse, The Wheel, and Language”?
Can you do a video on why you believe they never happened?
@noahkagan
Can’t remember the name but there was a company with an app doing that. Like hotel tonight, last minute hotels (you can schedule ahead of time also) but for the day.
It’s cool when you start to see applicants to work at your company
You know the value you’re creating
But to see other people actually want to join your startup is amazing
With the impending ban on Russian gold, how will the west source gold for jewelry, electronics, and savings and investment?
At
@DetermMaterials
we can provide a clean and secure source of gold with a traceable and transparent supply chain, produced locally here in the US of A 🇺🇸
The United States has imposed unprecedented costs on Putin to deny him the revenue he needs to fund his war against Ukraine.
Together, the G7 will announce that we will ban the import of Russian gold, a major export that rakes in tens of billions of dollars for Russia.
Years ago when I visited India as a 14 year old and witnessed the energy/resource scarcity as well as rampant pollution (which ultimately inspired me to become a cleantech entrepreneur), I wondered why India did not embrace nuclear energy.
I am so glad to see they finally are.

Problem is the east is abandoning all the good things about it and adopting all the bad things of the west. Indian cities are now indistinguishable culture and thinking wise from American cities
They incentivize the smelting and refining of the elements
They prioritize resource processing unlike the vast majority of nations such as our own
We will change that in a clean and efficient way

That’s not an answer

>50% divorce rate
75% divorces initiated by woman -> 90% if college educated
Divorce = lose half your stuff and your house and kids
Not a great proposition at the moment
We talked to 120+ investors to raise our pre-seed.
Not including
- friendlies (folks that would invest no matter what)
- VCs we met purely for long-term relationship building
By the end, our round was 10x oversubscribed.
This was fall 2023.
This was a "successful" process.
@whatifalthist
Skimmed it real quick. Seems like it’s about attaining higher states of consciousness and connecting/communicating with the rest of the universe?
What makes it so important? The Indian Yogic sciences have been saying this for millennia.
What ppl don't understand is when you do things that are really hard, and when you do things where you're held to a much higher standard than in other domains, once you power through, you essentially have no competition. Unlike other domains which are full of competitors...
@calithameridi
lol I had an operator I worked with who said all of us process engineers should be forced to work as operators for a year to know what it's like when we ask them to change/do stuff.
I really HATE hearing X is the new oil, or Y is the new gold.
You prove the point that oil & gold are king.
There is no new oil or new gold.
Oil is the new oil and gold is the new gold.
Get a grip.
This is a great article.
I was just explaining this to some investors today. In my experience in manufacturing and resources, equipment and technology providers are a dime a dozen.
You want to own the product and the manufacturing.
Own the value chain.
@DetermMaterials
“One of the best moats in many respects is to be a low cost producer
Being a low cost producer of something that’s essential to people is going to be a very good business
It is like comparing a copper producer who’s costs are $2.50 a pound with a copper producer who’s costs…
when you can't get a straight answer on the water capacity for the industrial space you're closing on and you decide to calculate it from Bernoulli's Equation 😂
damn it feels good to be a chemical engineer
@varunramg
I couldn’t get through the video. it made me sick
There are so many bullshit make work jobs out there used to employ people with no skills, typically liberal arts majors from Ivy League type schools.
Not only that demographic but heavily that.
Glad to offend everyone on this.
Some areas get lots of investment, others get next to none...
The areas that get lots of $$$ get lots of competition, the areas that don't get little...
Competition destroys profits, which destroys returns. The areas with little investment maintain high profits & returns...
The Istanbul metro has 760m annual ridership, with 1015 cars, 210 stations, across 21 lines, with 11 more under construction. BART has 51m annual ridership, with 669 cars, 50 stations, across 6 lines. The Istanbul metro has 3254 employees, BART has 3544. 🤔
Really puts it in perspective.
Massively expensive solar system, no atmosphere to absorb solar radiation, automatic free cooling from the cold depths of space, gold plating (literally), and still only 14% efficiency
🤦♂️
The ISS's eight solar arrays produce a total of 240 kW of electricity when fully exposed to sunlight.
Their efficiency is about 14%, so the input power is 1714 kW... making it a megawatt-scale system!
Outsourcing tasks can make you feel guilty. Don't.
Outsource what's rote, routine, repetitious.
Retain your time for strategic, creative, high ROI tasks.

I support this but I also wish we’d focus on the existing electrical grid.
Parts of the grid were built by Thomas Edison.
A charging network does no good if the grid can’t keep up with these added demands.
We also need to repair the roads, water pipes, and other infrastructure
With the help of
@SecGranholm
and
@SecretaryPete
, I laid out a goal of building a Made-in-America electric vehicle charging network of 500,000 chargers on highways and in communities by 2030.
Today's actions get us closer to finishing the job and winning the global EV market.
it would be really fun to have a deep-tech incubator solely focused on hardware
a big warehouse somewhere full of amenities to help get founders off the ground - a place to get shit done. you come live here for 1 year
goal would be to rapidly prototype the MVP or sub-scale in

reviewing the resumes of manufacturing professionals and interviewing them, you can really see how the destruction of American industry has destroyed the lives of the average working man.
