Overaged underachiever. Former college professor at small women's college in Japan. Now octogenarian, but the old V8 still firing on at least 6 cylinders.

It just occurred to me that Judge Cannon knows what she's doing. If DOJ appeals her decision, and a higher court reverses it, then Trump could appeal that decision all the way to SCOTUS--and a 6-3 or 5-4 ruling in Trump's favor.

Whatever he owes, he won't have the wherewithal to pay. I suspect that his properties are so highly leveraged (sometimes, illegally, more than once) that there is little or no real equity in his properties.
Also, he is on the hook for $200 million more in Scotland.

Certainly all House members who claim the election was fraudulent should not be seated, as they have made it abundantly clear that they do not believe they were legally elected.

Is there a single "longtime industry professional" who actually believes that Liam Nissan is the noted film actor? What else can you say than, "The stupid, it burns."

On the Bonanza set, I once bummed a cigarette from Dan. "Thanks," I said, "I haven't had a smoke in three weeks."
Dan jerked the cigarette out of my mouth--"I'm not gonna be the cause of you startin' to smoke again."
I haven't had a cigarette for 55 years, 3 months and 2 days.

Taking the really long view, because those immigrants who are permitted to stay face an 8-10 year wait before they can apply for citizenship. Unless they are Rupert Murdoch, who can just buy a Congress to give him a passport.
Thank you, thank you all. Living an expat life halfway around the world can be lonely, and seeing my country in danger of falling into autocracy makes it worse. I'm glad there are so many people who really care about America. I was brought up on dreams of a better future.

Mitt Romney's grandparents were stripped of their US citizenship when they fled to Mexico to preserve their practice of polygamy. Mitt's father, George, was born in Mexico of parents who were no longer citizens; thus he entered the US illegally--but miraculously was a citizen.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say, since they can go after any one of us, they should be able to go after the President as well.
The capitalist class now owns almost everything there is to be owned. The giant game of Monopoly will continue into the future with the players at the top table competing to own the spiralling debts and future servitude of your children and grandchildren.

Obscuring a license plate must be a legal infraction, at the least. Does doing so in order to cover criminal activity make it a crime?

Been saying it over and over. If they think Biden was fraudulently elected, then they believe they were fraudulently elected. Therefore, they shouldn't be seated.

It's much easier to go after the self-employed person or contract worker--not only can they not fight back, the IRS can instill fear into the heart of the average taxpayer. The rich have accountants and lawyers who argue and delay.

I was an older student in grad school, about the same age as my professors. 30-odd years later, I am still taken by the positive response to the "Texas Massacre*" of my so-called "Marxist" professors.

We like this medicine better because, unlike the other medicine we developed that cures the condition, it alleviates some of the symptoms, and we have another drug in testing now that alleviates a few more of the symptoms.

You've got to be carefully taught

I don't remember exactly what grade I was in when it was added, but when we had to say the Pledge, I was so offended by the addition of "under God" that I would say, mffmff instead. I think that my aesthetic sense was also offended, because it ruined the scan.

When will we have a post office? Interestingly, mail that once took 4 days from Japan to US was taking 2 weeks to 3 months--but my most recent Japan-US mail took less than a week. Election over--no need to delay?
Can you give them clear instructions to go after the big guys? Little guys fear the IRS because it spends so much of its time and energy targeting the self-employed, sole proprietors and small businesses, who are asymmetrically defenseless.
Wealthy tax cheats and big corporations are sitting on heaps of unpaid taxes. If we give the IRS the resources they need to go after them, we can invest in a future for all of our kids.
