UNA is mourning the loss of Leo III, after a brief illness. He passed away peacefully Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the age of 21 and in the presence of attending veterinarians and volunteer caregivers. Share your memories by visiting .
Una, the beloved female mascot of the University of North Alabama, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning after a brief illness at the George H. Carroll Lion Habitat on campus. She was 17. Una's passing was peaceful, and her brother and caregivers were at her side.

President Kitts and his advisory team are meeting today to review the latest information on the COVID-19 outbreak and to determine what additional schedule adjustments may be necessary at UNA. An update will be released by 5pm this afternoon.
We are saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Anne Howard, long-time caregiver of Leo III and friend of UNA. Mrs. Anne has been a fixture in the George H. Carroll Lion Habitat since Leo III and his twin sister, Una, were cubs. The campus community mourns her passing.

In a unanimous vote Friday, UNA's Board of Trustees has approved an on-campus, multipurpose stadium project, to be named Bank Independent Stadium, and authorized next steps for the venue’s design and planning process.

In a special ceremony Wednesday evening, President Kitts conferred the degrees on seven baseball players at the conclusion of the UNA v. ASU game at Mike D. Lane Field.
