When Syrians say that their country's struggle is a good litmus test for someone's politics, they don't revel in that reality, it's one of the worst things to be reminded of every single day. It doesn't just apply to people with appalling views, but also to those with no views.

What do we do when lived experiences don’t fit into narratives? We deny them. Then, we demonize those sharing their testimony.

#NCA folks, come attend my paper at the Top Paper Panel of the Rhetorical and Communication Division. Starts at 11am EST. I talk about a topic near to my heart, the Syrian revolution and how we might stand with its radical subjects.

Only on twitter can breakfast be controversial! 😅by way of explanation: The dish to the top is Mamoniye, an Aleppan semonlina dish with cream, not fatteh. The yalanji is a meatless cold appetizer that is perfectly accetable for a late 1pm arab breakfast/brunch on weekend☺️

In an open letter marking 10 years since Syria's uprising, over 300 signatories from #Syria & 32 other countries decry the dehumanizing propaganda & disinformation with which Syrians are often smeared in the name of left-wing or "anti-imperialist" politics

Humble brag alert. My paper “Exploring Charismatic Leadership: A Comparative Analysis of the Rhetoric of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election” was one of the most downloaded last year #AcademicChatter

8. This gross misrepresentation of the character of the revolution at such an early stage, is modus operandi of those who are unable to see past the faith of others in their resistance against an oppressor.
