Did you already know about ‘git add -N’? I always do ‘git add -p’, but for new files I always added the file and then reviewed the cached diff. With ‘git add -N’, I can state the intention to add new files and then do ‘git add -p’ like normal!

Friday marked the end of an important chapter in my life — I parted ways with Theo and Ignition Works. It’s been an absolutely amazing run and I learnt so much but it was time for a change. I’m super excited for my next adventure — hopefully I can share what’s coming very soon!

Why did @yukihiro_matz choose Ruby for the name of his programming language? He wanted a jewel that was easy to spell so he was left with ‘Ruby’ and ��Coral’. ‘Ruby’ was a shorter word and the jewel was more beautiful and more expensive. 😁 #bathruby

I've had an iPhone for almost a decade but had never set up Siri...until last week. My sister, who currently lives round the corner from me, was alone at home and had a rather serious accident in the shower. She was able to get help by screaming "OK GOOGLE, CALL NADIA!"

Advice for conf speakers: When someone you care for is speaking, sit in the first row. Be there for them. Laugh at their jokes, _actually_ watch the talk (Twitter can wait), make yourself visible for them. Be the audience you'd like to have, and next time you will have it.

Best practical takeaway from day 1 @rubyconf is from @aellispierce 's 'Git Driven Refactoring' talk. How can you grasp the essence of the Open/Closed Principle (SOLID) and ensure you follow it? When adding new features, there should be no red in your GitHub diffs. #rubyconf
