Any form of gun control being pushed right now relies on mental health checks and psychological tests, which are ableist. They’re also inherently anti-Black, racist, misogynistic, and built on the eugenics movement.

I hate the term special needs or saying disabled people have different needs. We all have the same needs of love, safety, belonging, support, and thriving. We just have our needs met in a different way.

I don’t think losing my life is the biggest price to pay in revolutionary politics. Risking more dehumanization is worse. It has deeper implications as to why people value populations and shows how easily abandoned I and others can be. It shows how selfish people are.

If respecting and listening to your elders is an important part of intergenerational organizing; and what makes you an elder is not age but temporal experience… then newly Disabled people need to listen to those of us who have lived this experience more than you currently do.

Then saying they hope China can be like the West in their queer policies like hello, being trans in the US is legally dangerous?? While gender reassignment surgery has been and continues to be legal and accepted nationally?!

They chose to preserve the people’s trust at the cost of the human lives within their own country that will now have international ripple effects for generations to come. There was no perfect solution, and all because of imperial and economic pressure.
