Don't usually do this but wanted to share some personal information on here. Yesterday my mother lost her battle to cancer and I still can't understand this whole thing. Emotions all over the place, she always enjoyed watching the
@penguins
with me and my brother.
RIP 💛🕊️
We have 2 decades worth of Crosby stories that make him out to be one of the greatest humans in the sport. His work with children, hospitals, he goes out of his way constantly to give back...
And now we have these 2 bozos calling him Satan because he missed a 1 hour ASG event.
2 decades of Geno going last and Sid letting him is just perfection. I can't explain it but all Pens fans just know what I'm talking about, it's just a perfect way to describe the era.
Geno demanding to go last is such a Geno thing and Sid letting him is such a Sid thing.
Sidney Crosby just so innocently showing the Pens media person all the wolves and bears he took on his vacation like he's a middle aged dad.
Frank Seravalli:
"We must throw this man in a volcano 😡😡😡 how dare he do something so insensitive 😡😡 everyone boo this man 😡😡"
Look at this:
Sidney Crosby: 3 years, $8.7M
Evgeni Malkin: 4 years, $6.1M
Kris Letang: 6 years, $6.1M
Jake Guentzel: 2 years, $6M
Bryan Rust: 6 years, $5.1M
The core is all locked up with some beautiful contracts.
When Crosby heard the Malkin trade rumours he went over to the front office and said "it's me AND Geno"
Wow I absolutely love the captain stepping in and putting his foot down, that gets me really hyped for this season.
Nathan MacKinnon asked about Sidney Crosby.
He answers "I'll never be close to him" and then says "he's my hero" as he highly praises him during his interview.
Respect from the Nova Scotia boys 💛
Sidney Crosby's 2017-18 season is so underrated, his goal scoring was on another level.
His most creative, skilled, unique goals were scored that season.
Some players in their primes with the hunger of having nothing won aren't even making this play yet 36 year old Sidney Crosby is jumping around like he hasn't won everything already.
There's levels to this. GOAT 😤
Evgeni Malkin demolished the Hurricanes so bad in 2009 that they have yet to win an ECF game since then.
Since Evgeni Malkin's infamous hat trick in game 2, the Hurricanes have a total record of 0-10 in ECF games.
Geno ended the franchise unfortunately.
I never want to hear McDavid/Draisaitl in the same convo as Crosby/Malkin. All those fancy shmancy regular season points don't mean anything when you do absolutely nothing when your season is on the line. Another year, another playoff exit for them.
Michael Bunting ends his season in Pittsburgh with:
21 games
6 goals
19 points
2 game winning goals
Excited to see him under a full season with the team next year.
#LetsGoPens
The Penguins really just took 6/6 points from NJR/NJD/WSH all on the road scoring 15 goals in the process. Where on earth did this Penguins team come from?
1 point behind WSH.
2 points behind NYI.
3 points behind PHI.
6 games remaining.
#LetsGoPens
Offseason to do list:
-Fire Hextall/Sully
-Brand new goalie tandem
-Re-sign Zucker
-Focus on filling up the bottom 6 with youth
And then just pray some sort of magic happens and the Penguins are good next year.
I read "congratulations on an 19 year career" and was like wow what a long ass career.
Then you realize Sidney Crosby just played year 19 and looked better than 90% of NHL players in their primes.
Really puts into perspective how special 87 is.
Penguins play great, win games = gain absolute 0 ground and are like 8 points out of a playoff spot
Penguins sell, completely give up, don't score a goal in 2 weeks, lose 7 of 8 games = somehow gain ground and are now 5 points back with a game in hand
This is the type of shit Sidney Crosby was doing throughout his rookie season and was known as a worldwide cry baby for over a full DECADE... Man how have times changed. The NHL fans of today would've loved rookie season Sid.
That Malkin notification was so weird, no reporter, no Friedman, no Dregger, none of them had the news like they usually do. It was just boom *penguins just tweeted* "GENO IS BACK"
No warning, just great news all up in my face curing my depression.
So it's safe to say Sidney Crosby will be seeing the Stanley Cup this summer when MacKinnon takes it home. So basically the Penguins are .5 Champs. I'm going with that.
Wow Steven Stamkos they replaced you with Jake Guentzel, I would be absolutely furious and for pay back I would sign with the team that drafted and developed Jake Guentzel. That'll show them 😅
Sidney Crosby spending all week trying to figure out how he can get out of 1/3 of All-Star weekend by coming up with the genius plan of sending out a Timbits kid instead.
Good morning to everyone but especially to John Marino who was taking a beating in the 1st period but ended up having one of his best games of the season AND assisted on the GWG.
Thank you Brian Dumoulin for a great 10 years with the Penguins organization!
Don't let his last few years fool you, Dumo in his prime is one of the Pens best defensive defenseman in the 87/71/58 era and Letang's best partner of his career.
His game in 2015-18 was special.
Wow I can't wrap my head around this, the Penguins twitter really kept that tweet of mine in their thoughts and came back to it today and offered me FREE tickets. They didn't have to do that, their initial response was more than fine. Wow it's actually a little emotional 💛🐧
Penguins wins totals in the 87/71 era:
22: 40 W (and counting)
21: 37 W in 56 games
20: 40 W in 69 games (nice)
19: 44 W
18: 47 W
17: 50 W
16: 48 W
15: 43 W
14: 51 W
13: 36 W in 48 games
12: 51 W
11: 49 W
10: 47 W
09: 45 W
08: 47 W
07: 47 W
We've been absolutely spoiled.
Pens are going to sell everyone, take all the nobodies they get back and go on a absolute crazy run finishing the season like 18-2-1, squeak into the playoffs and win the whole thing and it'll be the greatest Stanley Cup story in NHL history. (Send me mental help immediately)
Unless it's a "greatest goal scorers" list or a "greatest wingers" list, Alex Ovechkin should never, ever, in a million life times be ahead of Sidney Crosby in any ranking.
You lose all credibility once you throw the 8>87 on your list.
When Ron Hextall was GM:
We HAVE to trade one of POJ or Pettersson if not both to get value back 😨
Kyle Dubas as GM:
Guy trades for Erik Karlsson, keeps both Pettersson/POJ AND moves our 2 worst RHD who cost a total of $8M+ in the process.
8-1-3 in their last 12 games.
Absolute magical.
It was the most fun I've had watching hockey in well over 2 years. That was our playoffs for this year. I appreciate getting to watch Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin play meaningful hockey for potentially the final time.
@nhlpens
It's Fan Appreciation Night and we want to appreciate you. We're sure this year has been really tough. Would you and your brother like to join us with two free tickets to next year's Hockey Fights Cancer game? 💜
I believe Mike Sullivan is a great coach but his time has expired. He's going to get a job next season. He should coach the Devils, his system is going to do wonders with all that youth and speed.
As for PIT a new voice is needed. It pains me to say but it's time.
WHAT. A. GAME.
That was a playoff game. That was straight out from 2017. The strong start, the adversity, the blown lead, the stressful tension at the end and the finale being all magic.
Building was BUZZING, Nedeljkovic was flying around. Pittsburgh NEEDS playoff hockey.
7 years ago today, Patric Hornqvist gave the Penguins their 1st of many overtime wins in the b2b runs.
This moment was really when I knew we had something special cooking.
#LetsGoPens
3 years ago today, Phil Kessel and Evgeni Malkin were going at it on the bench for almost the entire 2nd period just for Phil Kessel to score game winning goal in the 3rd assisted by.. Evgeni Malkin!
Jason Zucker has 6 goals, 10 points in 11 games with the Penguins
In a full 82 game season he'd be on pace for 45 goals, 75 points. He's not a rental, he can actually have the chance to do that over the next 3 seasons after this one.
Understand now why the Pens gave up so much?
The Penguins had a 2% chance of making the playoffs a few weeks ago. Still a long road ahead but if they make it, I don't care about your opinion, Sidney Crosby should be the MVP unanimously.
I just don't get it, this team was dead, there was nothing going for them. It looked like Mike Sullivan completely lost the team. Now all of a sudden he has them locked in like it's 2017 again.
Structure, they're playing an actual system again, I don't get it.
"Penguins powerplay sucks 😡"
"Karlsson sucks 😡😡"
"Evgeni Malkin is old and sucks 😡😡😡"
Meanwhile Tristan Jarry and Alex Nedeljkovic winning every game they start:
