Garnet Valley opened their season with a 41–7 win over Downingtown West, and ended the District 1 playoffs with a 54-15 win over Coatesville. I’d venture to guess no one has ever outscored that duo by 73 combined points before. Impressive, impressive team.

Rustin’s Dayshawn Jacobs’ career ended last night, but he said Ches-Mont single season records with 2,741 rushing yards and 43 touchdowns in his senior year. He averaged 211 rush yards in the 13 games he played.

Sad news from Sun Valley, wrestling coach Tommy Ellis passed away unexpectedly, Sunday. The head wrestling coach of 12 years helped build the Vanguards into a District 1 power. He was passionate and loved his team and was a great friend, father and husband. Truly gone too soon.

Downingtown East with 2 more shutouts to start the postseason makes it 9 games out of 11 the defense has not allowed points. In 9 games v. District 1 foes, East has given up 7 total points (to Dtown West in week 10). The Cougars have outscored D1 foes 360-7 thus far.

With Coatesville's season ending, three-year starting QB, Harrison Susi, closed out a stellar career. Coatesville was 24-5 when he started and Susi finished with 3472 pass yards, 48 TDs and 9 INTs, adding 2478 rush yards and 37 more TDs.

How unexpected has Dayshawn Jacobs' rise to the Rustin record books been? In the '20 season opener, 4 other RBs had more carries (Drew Gallen was also injured), & Jacobs had just 1 for -1 yd. In the following 16 games, Jacobs has rushed for 3036 yards & scored 51 TDs. Remarkable.

Tomorrow brings a close to another decade of Ches-Mont football (barring any playoff matchups). Coatesville is going for its 5th division title. The Red Raiders are 66-8 against CM foes this decade, including 5-0 in the playoffs. They have outscored teams 2727-1051 in that span.

Starting next fall, a big move happening between the Ches-Mont and Pioneer Athletic Leagues. An agreement is in place to have 2 inter-league games per year, based on school size and success. Should be a great series for both leagues in a day and age of scheduling conflicts.

In wake of Friday's result, some impressive seasons & careers came to an end. Dtown East's Ayden Harris finished w/ an area-high 1926 rush yds & 36 total TDs, giving him 3928 yds & 61 TDs for his career. East's defense allowed just 50 total points & had 9 shutouts in 12 games.
