@EM_RESUS Anaesthesiology and Critical Care here. In trauma and accident patients, always assume a cervical injury until imaging proves otherwise. Handle the neck very gently. In your eagerness to help, don't give them a lifetime of quadriplegia.

Working in the ICU gives you a reality check on how insignificant you are in this universe. It is the best way to learn what to prioritise in life, and what not to.

Wards, OTs and ICUs are full of patients showing these marks. It's never easy to fight a demon only you can see. Especially in a society that gives no heed to those asking for help to fight said demons.

The most painful part after a bad exam result is when you wake up the next morning and after a few seconds of amnesia and grogginess, the result again comes to mind. That gut-wrenching feeling of despair and failure. #NEETPG2023 people, life is vast. You will be fine.

@theliverdr We are taught to equate greatness with creatures like a lion or dragon, when the most ideal one to emulate would be a duck: calm and peacefully paddling away in life, with an occasional dip down and re-emerging fresh. Happiness lies in being a duck.

And anyone who has decently prepared can easily score with >20% accuracy. Marking very few and hoping to score a great rank, that almost never happens. My rule of thumb for every exam was: If I can eliminate one option out of four, I HAVE TO attempt the question at any cost. 3/n

1. Attempt almost all questions. This is a consistent pattern of all top rankers. At the end, if you have 20 q's unmarked, and you randomly mark all 20 and get atleast 4/20 correct with 20% accuracy, you will still be, at the worst case scenario, at a net score of 0. 2/n

Remove those attempts, and you will be cutting wings of 90% of seriously preparing aspirants. Demands to limit attempts look good if the demand-supply mismatch is addressed first. Or else its just another nail into the coffin of the dreams of 90% of the truly deserving. #NEETPG

Very accurate. In my hospital here, we usually do 20 LSCS per day. Many days, more than that. To get good at spinal anaesthesia, you don't need 20 caesareans daily; 10 is enough. The extra 10 cases just add to your stress and anxiety and make residency unbearable. #MedTwitter

Theoretical knowledge is as important as practical and requires availability of time during residency. People believe higher case load makes you skilled is the biggest bullshit I hear to justify toxic work culture. If such was the case - no doctor in US/UK would be skilled.
