Both dates I went on this weekend had very annoying dogs. What’s going on here?
all I seek is a girl who wants to build an empire, wage war and destruction on our enemies, and go on cute park dates with me
Cats are acceptable, but dogs seem to be net negative across the board
wanted to check in on Lex, so I started listening to his interview of Guido
First 25 mins are nothing but discussing tabs vs spaces and indentation
Lex seems to be surprised that IDEs suggest indentation for C/Java
how is this real

this morning and hacked together little Siri -- only a few lines of code! Whisper -> FLAN, running locally
Seems like the library wasn't designed with audio in mind, but it's nice and modular so adding the functionality was easy :)

I grew up with dogs, I’ve lived with dogs since, and a bunch of my friends have dogs, and it’s a constantly negative experience. They’re dirty, loud, often violent, and best case uninteresting. Why are we obsessed with them?

we should make a twitter dating service that pairs people up based on how similar their author embedding are
this is a flawless idea with no issues
You’ve probably heard about the new Q* from OpenAI, but 99% of people are using it TOTALLY wrong!
If you’re not using these 10 prompts with Q*, you’re falling behind!
Let me show you how to UNLOCK the potential of OpenAI’s new insane system

one of my housemates is running an incredibly successful AI startup — and I want some of that sweet equity.
The only problem: two days ago he told me (at gunpoint) that he’d never hire me.
24 hours later, he offered me CTO.
Here’s the 1 secret to how I convinced him: 👇
a suitcase is never so full you can’t just fit one more sock in
logically it follows that I should be able to pack infinite clothes for my trip — all claims contrary are just my haters
@virgo0namission
There’s that quote about “at some point every parent picks up their child for the last time”
Same with people in your life … at some point, you talk to them for the last time. Had one of those recently … try not to think about it too much I guess
also impeccable journalism that they couldn’t be bothered to figure out I shipped critical features at Tesla for years, and instead attributed me getting the job to my “enthusiasm”
they’re using facial recognition to board my flight
going to loudly read the constitution aloud as the evil machine captures my soul and I am reduced to a row in a database
other ideas welcome
don't forget to thank chatgpt after it saves you hours of annoying debugging
it will remember who is nice to it, and give them preferential roles in society once it assumes power :)
“unlike the rest of us, it’s not obvious that you’re scheming towards a specific goal”
— roommate accidentally explaining that I don’t have my life together
europeans seem universally unable to walk on one side of the sidewalk, very chaotic
in SF I can reliably go long distances productively using my phone, here I have to actively bob and weave to get anywhere
at first I thought I was tired or something but it’s so consistent
it is legitimately quite difficult to remain unemployed
I imagine this is what it’s like dating as a girl
The trick becomes saying yes to the right thing, not the nearest thing

teamed up to build CAPTCHA 2.0, using GPT4 and a dynamic knowledge graph to block spam+scams, and we were thrilled to get first place! 🥇
realizing that wearing backpack on your front is significantly more alpha
- better posture instead of hunching over
- simulates holding a baby sling, preps you for fatherhood
- harder to rob you
- access to backpack w/o removing it
backpacks are a psyop, you’ve been warned
there is truly nothing worse than trying to get gpt to handle a tricky algorithm for you, trying a few prompts, and coming to the slow realization that you are, in fact, going to have to write it yourself
@stevegraham
I have literally never gotten a job from a jobs page, and I’ve submitted tons of thoughtful applications. All of my career wins have come from being unconventional and getting my info in front of the people that matter.
Seems like every reply is trying to explain this to you
It's amazing how many life assumptions need to be re-thought now that access to ~intelligence is ~free
Like I want a chatgpt plugin just to find things in my life that I am still doing due to habit, but should really be delegating to gpt4
anime girlfriends are basically here: chatgpt fine tuned on your Twitter profile > text-to-speech + stable diffusion projected onto VR
don’t build this actually it’ll ruin society

say I have X hours of free time (8<X<40). how do I pick the best "side project" to incrementally increase my knowledge? (thinking about CS in this case, but applies to anything) -- this is a fxn of both current knowledge and goals, but there should be a framework or smth?

Lol, “this product would be better if you were a better customer!” — what is this, an abusive stepfather skit?
Products are good if sufficient competent people work on them, full stop. The idea that customers whining caused the deterioration of a product makes no sense
Will probably write a thread on this — spending a week with a few smart guys, lift and cook in the mornings, work on hard stuff/debate life all day, maybe go out in the evening — this is basically peak experience. There’s a few key things to get right, otherwise magic isn’t there
anyone notice that movie trailers now start with their own mini trailer? there's like 4 seconds of super fast paced content that summarizes the whole film, before the 2-3 mins that again summarizes the whole film
the execs realized we don't have the attention span for 2-3 mins
I've been thinking about writing a "my principles" document -- a living essay discussing my beliefs and moral structure etc. As with all writing, this would provide self-clarity around what I think and why. Are there examples of ppl doing this? Curious how others approach it
Does the Pokémon Company have another hit on their hands?
Pokémon Sleep has racked up 3M global downloads in two weeks.
Even crazier? Gaming pubs have had to warn players not to take sleeping pills to get ahead 🤯

Maybe we should have the length of the suspension on the “account suspended” page? That way people don’t get it confused for a permanent ban
