Saints, please be praying for me. That I would not fall to the devil’s temptations and that I would be killing sin. As of now, it feels as if sin is killing me. Please be praying for me.
Saints, if you could be praying for me, it would be appreciated. My parents are getting divorced (long story) and I don’t know what to think. Just be praying for peace and strength and Christlikeness in this time, and for the spread of the gospel in my family
It blows my mind that Eric Conn is taken seriously at this point. I don’t recall seeing any tweet about Jesus, salvation in Christ alone, or anything edifying. I’d be happily proven wrong. But so far, he isn’t a serious thinker.
Please be praying for my cousin. He confessed faith in Christ and repented of his sins last night. Pray he would be a genuine saint and walk in the faith in God’s word, and that he would join a good church, and that I would be able to draw near to him. Soli Deo Gloria!
If GTY is separating from EFS proponents, then that seems good to me. Again, theology proper issues are paramount. Whether one view EFS as heresy or not, it is worthy to separate institutionally over it. Eternal subordination and incarnate subordination are totally different.
Please pray for me. Potential job opportunity may be on the horizon but it’s really put me in a difficult place. Pray for peace and guidance by the Spirit. Thank you.
Please be praying for my great grandma. She is currently in a nursing home, and has just tested positive for Covid…She is already not in the best shape. Be praying for her and for us as her family. Thank you in advance
Saints, I am working on a website with works from across the Christian tradition, including translations. Is this something you would be interested in?

Hebrews 1 has high Christology, and reveals to those doubting His divinity that He is indeed confessed as God the ruler (1:8) and as God the creator (1:10) *at least*. He is also higher than the angels (1:13). God incarnate is He our High Priest! What a wonder is this!
I don’t really see a case for leaving a “blue” state, biblically. Especially from the same people saying we need to ban abortion (we should). Change the culture by…leaving the culture that needs changing? Makes sense…
I would love to see a biblical-theological exploration of Christ’s descent into Sheol. The biblical warrant for the doctrine seems to be heavy, and the allusions drawn are many. It seems an area fertile for research and meditation
@MtZionAD33
Would the reverse be true as well? Regardless how complementarian you are, you don’t platform heterodox trinitarians? Because if the lesser doctrine (complementarianism) is bad, then heterodoxy on the Trinity is worse, as one directly involves the Godhead.
For anyone confused: TAfP is an engagement with Thomas, not saying, “Thomas is my dude! Can’t live without him!” In case their was confusion on the stated purpose of these volumes :)
Will be trying to “purge” my future tweets of unnecessary things. The Lord has revealed much in my soul that is undesirable. Lord help me to be an edifying member of this site and the small community I have here. God bless! 🙌🏼
After being “locked up” during Covid, and coming to faith in that locking up, I have finally been baptized! Difficult and lots of problems and spiritual isolation being away from God’s people, but He has been merciful. Soli Deo gloria!
Should I stick with the KJV or move to the NASB95 or LSB? I think I’m struggling with which text to trust. I love the KJV, but a lot of people don’t for various reasons. Thoughts?
The notion of a passionless God undoubtedly will strike many contemporary christians as absurd and maybe even repugnant. It sounds to us as if God does not care. But therein lies an intellectual mistake. – James Dolezal
In opposition to “CN,” I have found myself in much agreement with the “biblicists.” One can hope that fellowship can extend past labels. Not diminishing the disagreements. But emphasizing that we are Christians before anything else.
I am thankful for the Lord: for saving me and not abandoning me to my sin.
I am thankful for my family: for their continued love and support.
I am thankful for my girlfriend: for her consistent encouragement and companionship.
So people think the Trinity don’t act together? Is redemption not Triune? The Father sends, the Son atones, the Spirit applies. Inseparable operations. One God works together because He is one God. No?
Scholasticism doesn’t make one Roman Catholic. The Reformed Tradition should be proof enough of that. Entire generations of some of our greatest minds were teachers and pastors who worked in a scholastic context. Can we please move on?
The more I read, the more I realize how inadequate of a thinker I am. The more I read the Scripture, the more I realize how deeply I need God. Saints, read and read well. Let the Lord humble you and sanctify you.
@ZachWLambert
Zach, I’m glad you call people to repentance and faith in Christ. Do you also speak of fighting sin in the believer? Because there is no Christian life without that combat.
I haven’t said anything anti-LGBT. I have only affirmed what God has said.
Saints, if you could be praying for my family. There are some things going on with my dad…Please be praying for us, especially my mom and sister. Thank you.
@TerriGreenUSA
It’s a weak, non-Christian position, from both men on stage who proclaim to be Christians. We need Christians in politics, not “conservatives”.
Reading
@MattMBarrett
Simply Trinity (finally) at the behest of a friend. Such a clear writer so far, and very readable. Reminds me why I turned to None Greater for God’s attributes. Thank you very much, sir!
(Yes, I know I’m late to that book party 🙃)
One doesn’t just become a Papist from reading Aquinas or using the lectio divina, and proving that it does requires evidence. There are other factors that play in to one’s movement to Rome.
Lots of conversations today regarding magic and the demonic world. Key take away: do not dabble or be around witchcraft or other wicked things. They will only harm you. Remain next to Christ, hate what is evil, love what is good.
Saints, I plead you to join me and my church in praying for my city. Pray for the salvation of those involved, especially those grieving (the victims and the killer), the Lord’s comfort to the hurting, and for love and peace.
It’s not about personal preference, or “what I can handle.” It’s about basic respect towards image-bearers and being Christlike, in which Christ *was not* vulgar nor crass. Strong on sin? Yes. Disrespectful? No.
“Gratitude, that inner motion of love welling up in response to the love of God, moves the believer to do far more for God than guilt and slavish fear could ever produce.”
Reformed Systematic Theology, V1, p. 127
Just read a concerning thread in regards to a RB pastor jumping ship to Anglicanism. Again, his influences being Dolezal, Aquinas, Barrett, and others of the same theological cloth. If you have been following the RB thomist debate, you know what I am getting at.
“Reformed scholasticism can help us by teaching us to follow Scripture as the supreme authority while giving proper respect to Christian tradition as a witness to how Scripture is best interpreted and applied.”
Joel Beeke
I would like to eventually write a systematic theology, or a Reformed dogmatics. Not necessarily to publish but more for myself and for anyone interested. That’s a “dream” of mine
Please pray for traveling mercy for my girlfriend. It was a wonderful few days spent with her. Traveling mercies and grace for our relationship. It would be appreciated
@ZachWLambert
Then we are at least on the same page about that. Which I’m glad for!
It is not anti-LGBT to call them out for their sin any more than it is to call a drunkard out for their sin, or a gambler their sin, or an adulterer their sin. Sin is sin.
I wish more work would be done to translate older biblical commentaries. There’s a wealth of biblical exegesis done by Reformed dogmaticians that are just as hidden as their dogmatic treatises.
The CN debate is boring. If America becomes a Christian Nation, then may the Lord be glorified in that. I just hope things go well if that ever happens. But I am content with trusting His sovereign rule either way. I hope everyone can agree with that.
God is the sum total of all his perfections, the One than whom no greater, higher, or better can exist either in thought or reality.
Herman Bavinck, Reformed Dogmatics V2, p. 250
Echoing Anselm?
The fuss over Aquinas is overblown, both in support of and in rejection of him. Aquinas was a towering intellect, indeed. But the Spirit gave us better teachers.
But the real issue should be doctrine, “not dudes.” Hopefully this is where we go from here.
Instead, we understand the biblical affirmation that God is never divided or separated, and thus the persons always act indivisibly.

The Biblical Trinity—
@brandon_d_smith
on inseparable operations
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
— Colossians 1:16
If you think Jesus did not call sinners to repentance, you’re absolutely crazy. And if you think you can claim faith in Christ and “safely” commit sin, then you’re equally crazy. Christ calls us to radical holiness and sent us the Holy Spirit to help us.
I don’t know if I would say that the Bible presupposes *Aristotelian* metaphysics, but that Aristotelian metaphysics, and Platonic metaphysics, incorporate what God has revealed in nature.
And even when a biblical passage might only emphasize one or two persons acting, this doesn’t mean that the unnamed person of the Trinity is off taking a heavenly nap.

If the Papists are “all bad and can serve no purpose to read” for the Reformed, then what happened to the Church in the period between “Church Fathers” and magesterial Reformers? All them are damned or?…
I am thankful for my X friends and growing-circle of church friends: for our conversations and help in godliness.
I am thankful to the Church of Christ: for faithful teaching and exposition throughout her existence.
I am thankful for scholars: for pointing me to solid teachers.
For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.
Malachi 1:11
