Great talk from @fredbrancz at @KubeCon_ on why/how we must use existing hardware better... 1) understand where resources are spent, 2) optimize your software, 3) use less CPU. More performant (and cheaper) systems are always a win, esp. in the age of AI.

You know what else was ahead of its time: Google App Engine (2008). Unlike Heroku it scaled to zero on its own ("serverless"). The flaw was requiring Google-specific API integration (e.g. datastore). I wrote a webapp for it at the time and it was 100% hassle free for 5 years 💯
