James Baldwin was right, when he wrote:
‘You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read.’
I’ve felt seen, understood and heard in so many books. Reading in many ways has kept me alive.
I wore a skirt embroidered with the names of gay, lesbian, trans, queer and non-binary family who have been killed because of homophobia, transphobia, and queerphobia.
I also wrote about them so that we may remember them

Here is an interesting fun fact:
In South Africa there is an established principle that whoever repeats, confirms or draws attention to a defamatory statement will be held responsible for its publication.
‘Apple has been fined 25 million euros (£21m, $27m) for deliberately slowing down older iPhone models without making it clear to consumers.
The fine was imposed by France's competition and fraud watchdog DGCCRF, which said consumers were not warned.’
The High Court in Botswana has uplifted human rights and decriminalised consensual same-sex sex. In a unanimous ruling, the Court held that the laws are discriminatory and unconstitutional.
The Court said homosexuality is not unAfican. This is major victory.

God has really been faithful. Earlier this month, I tweeted about my anxieties around getting a job. I want to share that God has pulled through.
July will be the start of amazing things! Wonderful things! We are going to be impactful.
Thank you for all your thoughts.
This is my friend Katlego. She’s the first known transwomxn to clerk for a Justice at the Constitutional Court in 2016/2017.
She’s a great advocate for LBGT Rights and visibility. She’s a kickass legal mind too.

Permission Obtained
The last time I was in Kimberley was when I came to bury my mother. That occasion was heartbreaking.
After 3 years of absence, I came home to erect tombstones to honour her and my aunt for the parents they were to me.
Everything went beautifully. They deserved that.
I need to start having a different relationship with myself. I am often unkind to myself and I need to unlearn that.
I want to unlearn not loving myself.
Thinking about Shonda Rhimes today
‘Because no matter how hard a conversation is, I know that on the other side of that difficult conversation lies peace. Knowledge. An answer delivered. Character is revealed. Truces formed. Misunderstandings are resolved.’
I don’t think men are serious about ending GBV. I think men are more serious about clearing their names.
And that is not how we end the scourge of GBV.
To all my friends on here who are queer, trans and intersex. I’m holding you tonight and every night for the last 5 months.
I’m sorry that they want us dead.
I’m sorry that we live in fear.
I’m sorry,
I’m sorry I can’t do anything.
I’m sorry.
‘You cannot, you cannot use someone else's fire. You can only use your own. And in order to do that, you must first be willing to believe that you have it.’
