inazuma had good character designs and bad story/pacing, sumeru had good story/pacing but bad character designs....cmon genshin you can do it i know you can do it
we don’t talk enough about how the traveler hides their identity in-game. they don’t give out their real name or age, where they came from, and no one apart from dainsleif knows that their twin is leading the abyss order
childe's father being an unnamed explorer who named his children (ajax, teucer) with greek named (the naming used in enkanomiya), one of which would be 'called to' by the abyss...this does NOT sit with me
tweeted a long time ago abt childe’s mindset being changed by the abyss but this like from tsumi adds so much to it. the abyss didn’t just mess him up because of circumstance, it literally REWIRED him—to be addicted to the way the abyss feels—to be addicted to fighting
albedo event has really made me wonder if anything non-human in genshin can actually be killed…it seems like things that are born from the elements/ley lines/natural forces in teyvat either regenerate or simply can’t be permanently killed
i love genshin for having corruption as a theme that is both a physical concept and a metaphorical one. like you can be physically corrupted, but you can also be corrupted by knowledge and that’s so sick
i’ve always thought it was kind of strange how the sakura petals make this whispering sound when you walk through them—it sounds like someone talking. after ei’s second quest, i can’t help but feel like this is makoto’s conscience speaking, or her energy lingering on teyvat.
enkanomiya and the idea of fate being sealed continues to show how teyvat’s history is incredibly cyclical. every fallen civilization we encounter is just a warning for what will happen soon…
i’ve been thinking a lot about inteyvat flowers lately. because lumine’s inteyvat changes appearance based on the element, they could have been something that allowed people in khaenriah to channel the elements, like how abyss mages use ley lines!
2.6 spoilers — some of the writings on different walls
non est ad — there is no (way) to
-referencing “non est ad astra mollis e terris via” / there is no easy way from earth to stars
vivos voco — i call out to the living
abyssis via — the roads to the abyss
mhy needs to fix albedo’s model bc i would have been on the FLOOR for that “can’t i come see you when nothing is up” line if he wasn’t looking at me w those giant goofy looking eyes 😭😭
the thrones in the eternal oasis have (abbreviated) versions of the three gods names…so i guess the goddess of flowers’ name was nabu malikata (i think this was also mentioned in the quest)
what if the reason childe has no light in his eyes is because he died when he fell into the abyss and his body has just been sustained by abyssal energy this whole time?
so childe had a clear mental descent the longer he spent in the domain, each day he grew less cheery & a bit more unhinged/cryptic and i can’t help but wonder if this is a parallel to his time in the abyss. three days in the abyss as a childe, three in the event…
in the enkanomiya books, the primordial one is described as an androgynous being with wings, a crown, and four shades.
behind every ley line tree in domains, we see a creature that fits this exact description. i think these murals may be depicting something with this being
today on looking too deeply into little details in genshin:
there’s a luxurious chest hidden behind a waterfall at the edge of the map in stormbearer mountain, but the style of the pillar it’s on doesn’t match any other architectural styles or assets in the game
everytime i think abt orobashi’s story i get some sad, it seems like he was genuinely a benevolent god towards the people of enkanomiya, likely knowing that his time was limited too
can we talk about how the ruins at tsurumi island and the time and wind island are almost directly across from each other (over a long distance, of course) ??
2.6 spoilers
a thread of me translating this mysterious letter line by line with some notes!
(spoiler alert; it’s catullus time! this letter pulls from catullus 58B with some genshin related changes!)
@luminecity
dude i saw a callout thread once where they talked about the person literally being a child predator for two tweets and the majority of the thread was about their 'problematic ships' (i think it was CHILUMI TOO) you are focusing on the WRONG THING
i wonder if being truthful to their identity would put them in some kind of danger, either from celestia or any other source in teyvat, but there’s clearly a reason
3.5 spoilers //
also let it be known that i don’t buy a word of this. kaeya’s memories are kind of irrelevant now that we’ve seen how memory can be affected, but i believe the “center” of khaenriah is where the abyss’s pull is strongest, and it’s in mond, hence why he’s there
it cracks me up how the rest of teyvat either doesn’t know about khaenriah or treats it like some secret and then the scholars in sumeru are like. yea. khaenriah made these machines. yea. we’re studying them. what about it
i will never shut up about how suspicious the divine priestess line is. the fact that it’s hereditary. or how theres no way to retire from it. how kokomi acts in terms of “energy” and then doesn’t elaborate on why she does it. my gosh
the goddess of flowers’ story get even more terrifying and saddening the more i think about it. like, what out there could be so all-powerful and terrifying that it led a divine and clearly very intelligent to essentially take their own life because of hopelessness?
rukkhadevata’s name being in the eternal oasis proves that irminsul is simply a writing/recording device capable of editing memories but not changing past/future events
“history is written by the winners”…
in turn, the abyss must “call” to people that it know will be hooked BY that “intoxication” — the abyss is literally a sentient thing holy crap, it’s gathering people for its own agenda and power (abyss order??)
this is so painfully intentional by mihoyo. asking us what we’ll do with a gnosis? what our final destination is? comparing the player to stars?? it’s all soooo intentional he KNOWS something
hey teyvat chessboard fans. what if kaeya is the knight piece.
-KNIGHT of favonius
-cavalry captain (knight piece is a horse, and where are the horses)
i hope we get content of mona, albedo, and klee as a trio, because i feel like mona’s master, alice, and rhinedottir may have been a trio in khaenriah with similar beliefs or expertise to their successors
the concept of “awakening” in genshin is so ominous. heaven (celestia) and earth (teyvat) are being shaken up by this coral that comes from enkanomiya, and it’s powers are causing the three realms to change. i wonder if we’ll see repercussions of enkanomiya’s opening in the chasm
i find it interesting that the tsaritsa is considered a loveless god. sometimes i find myself wondering if her motivations are a lost love, or a love for a world that once was, in which case her love would just be misguided or turned to anger, but not fully gone?
genshin spoilers //
tbh….i understand why deshret went the way he did now. if he had this voice in his head constantly after the death of the goddess of flowers, whispering things like this to him….that would be enough to break anybody
rough translation of the lyrics of signora’s battle theme!! there are some translation notes at the end of the second image. interestingly, this song combined latin and italian.
“the sky kingdom crashed into the bottomless depths”
not only was enkanomiya part of a unified landmass, it was originally in the sky.
perhaps this is where the moon sisters and their people originally came from?
columbina has the same gradient/highlight effect in her hair as guizhong, venti, raiden, nahida/rukkhadevata, and zhongli…does this mean she might actually be another god from pre-archon war teyvat?
it feels like there’s a certain level of “progress” that civilizations can make before they’re simply deemed “too advanced” and wiped off the map. if this is celestia’s doing it’s a very good way to keep themselves more powerful than the common person
@alRhyme
focalors didn’t die to give it back, she died to destroy the throne and trick celestia. venti could very well be fooling them too and we haven’t had it addressed yet
3.6 spoilers //
for anyone who wants to get to that khaenriah gate! you have to finish the factory part of the world quest with pari to get here, and the door with the little orb controller i hit will default as closed if you haven’t opened it yet!
thinking about how nahida/rukkhadevata have pupils that look like four-pointed stars and elf ears, meanwhile klee is connected to the four-leaf clover and is an elf
seeing the traveller referred to as a self-insert is always so strange to me...they have their own clearly defined motives and the dialogue choices you 'make' don't have much( (or any) impact on the game at all. i wonder why people automatically equate protagonist to insert tbh
oh i understand the sarcophagus now….
left side: amon khenti-ament, deshret’s full name. amon (amun-ra) is a sun gif while khenti-ament is a god of death & a title for osiris & anubis
right side: mek dsrt waf khasut, protector of the desert (?) who curbs foreign lands
like if u collect x of this artifact set you can use those artifacts to change a base stat before leveling an artifact…no more off stat pieces but rolls are still rng
