@debarghya_das @petrillic No, Netflix gives (free) cache boxes to ISPs. We have two in our network. The boxes are “inside our autonomous system” so transit costs are $0 (the cache is refilled in the middle of the night, so that costs $0. No cloud, distributed free collocation.

We needed a new “ops” server, but due to the supply chain and lack of motherboards, we must upgrade an existing serve. Bumping it from 8 to 20 cores. Used chips on eBay: showed up in 24 hours, 7% the cost of new chips, wrapped in a paper towel!

Lots of tweets about Comcast’s 1.2TB monthly cap - that works out to ~3.5Mbps all day, or 11Mbps solid for for 8 hours - that is about 5x average usage. Wholesale bandwidth runs around $0.50 for this speed when purchased, free if over an IX.
