In the middle of all this anxiety, my middle son passed his final year medical school exams @EdinburghUni and is now a young doctor- having seen how hard he has studied his whole life, as well as keeping up with his #sports and #music , I couldn’t be more proud #HappyMothersDay

My eldest son who lives in #London can’t come home for #EidUlFitr because of #COVID ー19 restrictions. He’s always a joyous presence and the day will not be the same without him but I’m just #grateful he is healthy and well. Hoping to see him soon inshallah!

Teaching can be a joy while marking and grading are usually dreary tasks... so the excitement you feel when you come across a truly excellent dissertation and the student tells you that he felt inspired by your courses... #makesitallworthwhile

Not been feeling well for a few days. My #personaltrainer from the #gym sends me daily exercises and I had to tell him I can’t keep up with the exercises just now ; he said ‘just sit in the back garden at least and get some sun’ - that I can just about manage.

My humble advice to most prospective #Phd students: why do you want to do a PhD? it will be a long and mostly solitary experience.. after a few months no one will be interested in your topic, even you will get bored.Uni is important, but having the right supervisor is crucial.

I’m not sure how much difference my walking and exercising is making but I realise I find the language of quads, glutes, squats and hamstring much easier to understand than the language of scripture, prophecy, salvation and ritual.
