I used to pronounce the bowel prep solutions Golytely and Nulytely as gully-telly and nully-telly.
I worked in retail.
It's go-lightly
And new-lightly
Bc when you're sh*tting your brains out, you want it to be lightly. 🤦🏼♀️
Today was a very important day in ID education

I taught my resident the importance of the word "purulent" and ... not using the alternative synonyms.
OMG WHERE has this been the past 2 months?!?! This visual of PPSV23, PCV13, PCV15 and PCV20 for adults is 💰.
Answered my previous question about previous PCV13/PPSV23 & ongoing PPSV23 needs.

I agree. But the anger should be at the corporations who don't schedule adequate staff so that walk ins can be honored.
Trust me. Our community pharmacists would love to vaccinate on demand. But they were suffering BEFORE vaccines & testing and haven't had increased FTEs
How's your Tuesday evening? Humbled and honored to have received the
@MAPharmacists
Health System Pharmacist of the Year award. Thank you to all my mentors, colleagues, trainees, & everyone who never said "no" to my crazy ideas. Oh, & also my husband. Thanks Tim! 🤗
Help me celebrate a pre-emptive no!
I was going to apply for a committee with a several year commitment. But I convinced myself that now is not the best time.
So. I. Deleted. The. Email.
This is significant 😶

day is tomorrow. Trust the process. I matched at my last choice & was devastated. Turned out to be the best experience ever. Others had to scramble/2nd MATCH/take a year off before success. Where there's a will, there's a way, just maybe not the one you expected
@jtrebach
My husband sent me (pharmacist) to the store to pick him up some "DayQuil" for his cough.
Instead he got separate guafenesin 600mg tabs and separate dextromethorphan. We already had APAP & IBU at home.
You got symptoms? Take a separate med per symptom, you big baby.
I just learned that as of YESTERDAY, Nov 18, 2020, alllllllllll the manufactured doses of Zostavax are now, officially, off the market in the US.

The Clinical Practice Award recognizes excellence in clinical ID pharmacy practice by an active member of the ID PRN. They must spend at least 50% of their practice time in ID & have made significant & sustained contributions to ACCP and ID PRN.
Congratulations,

So I accidentally took the 6 yo on a 3.5 mile hike. (In my defense, the lake looked smaller).
He declared it was fun.
When I asked what his favorite part was, he said "spending time with you"

✅ Completed an item on my to-do list.
😱 Realized item wasn't actually written down on list.
💯 You're damn right I added it to the list so I could immediately cross it off. Don't act like you don't do the same.
Y'all coming for

I couldn't take them seriously when they clutched their pearls regarding *checks notes* 6 pages of drug interactions! 😳
That's called Tuesday, boo.
But thank you for your words of support! Medicine is a team sport.
Pretty special day yesterday. Husband was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. And his father, a retired Colonel, was able to be part of the ceremony (in addition to some disgruntled children. That's 7's actual expression).
I've been hearing some students are being offered on site interviews as well. Placing myself in their shoes, they would NEVER turn down in person/ask for virtual for fear of retaliation.
So I'm asking on their behalf.
DO NOT HAVE IN PERSON PHARMACY RESIDENCY INTERVIEWS!
I have heard that some pharmacy residency programs are requiring on-site interviews. This is not safe and puts students and sites at risk. All interviews should be virtual this year.

Not to be confused with Tony. Who is simultaneously a phenomenal pharmacy tech (*put it on the board!*) and environmental services (urology video)
WHY DO I KNOW ALL THIS?!?!?
OooOooOoh! I am SO excited for this! I can't wait until it comes out in the pretty formatting.
I asked some rockstar home infusion pharmacists for a review on home infusion methods with plenty of pictures & they DELIVERED! A must read for all

There are SO many emotions. So humbled to be a part of this.
One pt commented we must have trained a lot for this. I asked if I could vax 1st? After I did (that didnt hurt!) I said today was my 1st day vaccinating. Ever.

Overwhelmed. With gratitude. With hope. With teamwork.
Our COVID 💉 vaccine clinic was booked for 60 pts to get the flow down. EVERYONE was so super efficient, we doubled our spots to vaccinate 119!
Didn't have time to read all the OPAT papers published last year? We summarized the top 10 here for you!
Editor's choice?!? *swoon* Thanks

Tim was in one of the surgical residencies. Can't recall which ones.
Is he the one who *checks notes* doesn't have a wife anymore? Or the one who hasn't seen sunshine in 3 months?
45 minutes of "working" on a presentation ... and I only got 1 slide done. Background. But ... isn't she a beauty?? (Pardon the shot-from-my-cell-phone glare)
He was sitting on the floor like this, crying, because he wanted 2 cookies. 🍪🍪
I did what any normal parent would do.
I ate the cookie in the hand.
Now he's crying even louder.
He still doesn't have 2 cookies. 🤷🏼♀️

Nice to meet you, where you been?

Oh, hey. Speaking of

In non-COVID news, Theo turns 4 on Wednesday. Today I asked him what kind of cake he wants. A chocolate PJ Masks cake.
Please, send me cake-spiration for one. Gecko is his favorite, so need to stock up on green food coloring. And possibly fondant. 👩🏼🍳

, I will be transitioning to a new chapter as an outpatient ID pharmacist in our HIV, hepC, and OPAT clinics in April.
Created a fantastic new typo.
Accidentally combined "vanco" and "rando" (random) to form "vando" and I think we should hereby refer to all random vanco levels as "vandos" from here on out.

You know, there is a 3rd category in the match. You matched - but it was your last choice 😬
That was me.
I remember getting the email, in the school library, and bursting into tears (I know, way out of character for me).
OK. Hear me out. "Conference pods".
Gather 5 or 6 conference attendees together in a living room. Stream conference slides on large tv. Sit on couches. Wear comfy rompers. Drink the drinks and eat the snacks.

ISMP Safety report:
My 6 yo randomly asked if I was allergic to anything.
I told him bactrim.
He was v concerned about me working w the drug & what if I needed it? He then got a 15 minute lecture on antibiotic allergies & desensitization.
The kicker is ... he keeps coming back w more Qs 🤣
Our attending just said, "You have about a 20% chance of death by using non-BLs but you only have a 0.1% chance of an allergic reaction if you use a (later-gen) cephalosporin"

I would like it to be known that I ran a meeting on Wednesday. We finished 20+ mins early. And I did NOT say, "let me give you back some time."
I feel like this needs to be commemorated somehow.
Yes, tis true! We are heading into phase 2 to fill our 2nd PGY2 ID position. I'll be seeing some of you via zoom in the upcoming weeks! Please apply if interested!
