It really irritates me when people deny my Deaf identity based off the fact that I can speak. Do you know why I can speak? Because hearing people forced me to do speech classes while I was growing up. Deaf people are still Deaf even if they can speak somehow. Smh

Hearing people be taking one ASL class and putting it under languages they know/skills on their resumes. They can barely sign “my name is ...” and that’s it. Jobs be excited while Deaf/HoH folks struggle to find jobs cuz people find it a hassle to accommodate them. Sheesh

@Shaltil I don’t know if you’re educated in deaf history and all but hearing devices are usually heavily pushed on along with speech therapy (which is known to be traumatic). Push the “norm” which is harmful. This stuff can eventually lead to actual eradication of deaf people.

I remember being a teen and getting upset at times that I was Deaf because of whatever audist situation that happened to me multiple times. Glad I got older and realized that the issue isn't me being Deaf, it's the fact the world/society is so ignorant and inaccessible.
