Bimby’s expression doesn’t define his sexual orientation. Again, expression is independent from gender identity and sexual orientation. So what if he acts (in what we perceive as) feminine? It doesn’t make him gay. At hindi ito kabawasan ng pagkalalaki at pagkatao niya.

36! As a survivor of Rheumatic Heart Disease, welcoming my birthday is a milestone. Back then, I was bed ridden, suffering from extreme joint pains. While I could hardly move, singing to Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” comforted me.

I, too, over reacted. I got triggered by the news that a young woman died and was presupposed to have been a victim of rape. I also shared a tweet bearing the names of the suspects without looking into their backgrounds. And when I did, it was too late. I sincerely apologize.

I hope, soon, ALL LGBTQIA+ Filipinos find power in “BAKLA”. Because it must be a word that empowers. We were just made to believe that it is degrading and insulting. But let’s do this exercise every morning: look at yourself in front of the mirror and say, “BAKLA AKO!”
