For tab icons, we now have a greyscale treatment to reduce visual distraction. Then on hover, show a pop of colour, alongside the file thumbnail to make finding the right file easy. Shoutout to @maxvoltar for the incredible icons!

Woke up to horrible news today. I'm half-Russian half-Ukrainian and grew up in Kiev and Crimea. What happened today was one of my biggest nightmares. I watch closely western, Ukrainian and Russian news, and this is clearly a war, a Russian invasion of Ukraine.

@wesbos I was surprised how much these services cost! We ended up with @getunleash as they have reasonable pricing. For frontend, make sure to load resolved flags with the very first response from the backend, not async during runtime, this will solve a ton of issues.

I often hear that folks won't do an unpaid test during an interview process. When joining @Wunderlist in 2012, I delivered 3x more than I was asked to do for the test. It was a small todo app for iOS, so I did the best I could do, plus an extra tiny server with realtime sync 1/2

If I look at pretty much any code that I've written in the past, I now probably know some other seemingly better ways to write the same thing, so I'm tempted to rewrite it and have to hold myself from it. With Clojure/Script, I look at the code we've written at @Pitch 6 years

When creating software using most programming languages, it is a matter of time before your code is going to stop working with upgrades of the programming language, and a then clock starting for each dependency you bring in. This is not the case with #Clojure .

At Wunderlist, I once was working on stress testing of the iOS app. I’ve added some code that would create 100 fake lists with 1500 tasks in each of them. I finished the test, went for lunch, and when returned folks asked to fix a deployment script for beta testing. (1/3)

On every launch, the app would create 15000 more tasks. Some testers got >100k fake items in their lists because they kept restarting the app thinking they could find a bug. We quickly deployed a hotfix, and some of our testers had a lovely evening of cleaning up the test data 🙃

When debugging with println, which is btw my favorite way of debugging, I use a marker to visually highlight the lines I'm interested in. My marker is "BOOM". Its beauty is in the fact that you can make it as long as you need it like "BOOOOOOOOM" for better visibility.

Designing an app with an “unpolished” look has the same advantage as mockups and lofi designs — no one cares if a button is 1px off. Means you don’t have to maintain a design system, can spend more time on UX and ship faster.

Seeing how popular Vitest is in the latest State of JS, I tried it together with shadow-cljs and turned out it's a very nice testing setup. Tiny configuration, filtering works, runs on node. Huge kudos to @thheller for shipping :esm-files target this weekend, just in time!

Всем моим друзьям из России: сейчас не время говорить о том, что вы не выбирали и не поддерживаете Путина, что вам было слишком мало лет чтобы ходить на демонстрации, что ходить на демонстрации — это большой риск и пр.
