Ohhhh found this in my hard drive today- I always lay in my characters with local color and no lighting, so under every painting I have a layer that looks like this.
I always paint the whole bg no matter where the characters cover it up- this way if I change my mind about poses etc I can move the characters around without having to worry about filling in gaps in the bg!
A really fun painting I did for Ralph! (There’s a little Scott watanabe cameo in there as well 😉) what the internet might look like if there was a night mode! I just wanted to show how wondrous the internet might seem to Vanellope.
Yassssss finally art talk on twitter about something I care passionately about: perspective!!!!!
The only rigid rule I keep is a consistent horizon line, and as long as shit converges to that line you can have as many points as you want.
Sometimes I look at old paintings and think how the f*** did I do that? It’s not a brag, it’s literally I can’t recall how I did certain effects or lighting things, because I work so randomly when I’m trying to figure something out. I feel like I can’t replicate most of my work!?
I did this as a quick work wind down yesterday but didn’t post it.
#Frozen
weekend! I didn’t get to work on it but it’s always magical to see the talented people as WDaS do literal magic!
The last rt got me thinking, what’s the single most grueling piece of art you’ve had to do? For me it was this matte painting for Wreck it Ralph. All those gumdrops/truffles are on separate layers. Weeks of revisions the clouds alone. But I learned a lot!
“Working on Raya and the Last Dragon has been an amazing learning experience that has opened up a window for me into the animation pipeline and challenged myself not just as an artist, but as a filmmaker too.
I tried to put all of these on artstation so i wouldn't be tweeting out raya work a little at a time like a dumbass but i kept on getting an error so here's a tweet with more Raya work. I used a lot of blue on the show.
A painting I did for Raya after an inspiring pitch from head of story, Fawn Veerasunthorn! Namaari was not designed yet, so it's just a rando lady with the crew.
Here's a Spider Gwen I painted for the Marvel Rising poster that was released. Sometimes I like to paint the characters separately so I can focus on the proportions and details.
One of the first paintings I did for Raya, obviously, the dragon design is not the Sisu of today. I loved the idea of sunken temples, and a dragon deity that other water creatures might want to follow.
✨She’s here!!!!✨My Harley figure!!!😭😭😭😭 I got a few extra, so I’m going to do a giveaway with this one! RT and like for a chance to win this unopened one!
I worked on an early version of GDT's Pinocchio when it was in pitch form like.. more than a decade ago! The animation industry is wild. This is an image they released at the time (2011!!), I painted over existing layout/rough color done by Rustam Hasanov.
Guess I can finally post some of this stuff! Here's some design process images I was working on costume redesigns with Sana for Marvel Rising! Honestly Adrian's Ms. Marvel is so iconic we didn't stray too far.
Ugh why are we even talking about art styles anymore it literally doesn’t matter there’s something for everyone, lines are being blurred everyday just do what you love fam.
