To clarify, you got agreement from the First Ministers, not the Executive. Alliance continue to support those in need of access to puberty blockers. Trans/NB people need to fight for simple healthcare as it is, puberty blockers aren’t being handed out like paracetamol.

I have secured Executive approval to extend the temporary ban on "puberty blockers" to NI, pending agreeing a long-term solution. UK clinical trials will help inform that decision. Meanwhile, NI will cease to be a potential back door to access.

I love seeing these painted utility boxes along the Lisburn Road. I worked with Council on this project which seen a number of these old green, graffiti covered, utility boxes transformed into works of art along the Lisburn Road right up to Finaghy.

Great to hear that @Translink_NI have agreed to provide late-night buses over the xmas period. Services will run on Fri & Sat nights, at £6 per journey. Hoping this is the first step towards year round night services, although we’d need to do something about that ticket price.

Today I joined hundreds of others in Belfast demanding action on tackling homelessness. We seen how quick govt acted during the pandemic to find temporary accom. People are dying, hostels are closing, & services aren’t being replaced. We know they can act, so why aren’t they?

Artists contribute so much to our city, tonight at committee I asked that we take steps to help them secure long term leases for studios and maker spaces. Looking forward to the evaluation of previous schemes so we can address the needs of our arts sector.

Incredibly disappointed by the outcome of tonight’s full Council meeting. From restricting the debate on funding, including that of the funding decision for Sólás, to a closed session, to the continued carve up of funds. Local decisions should be made by local cllrs.

With the UK set to host Eurovision I’ve also emailed the Chief Exec of Belfast City Council & requested that a group is convened to work on submitting a bid to be the host city. With such a rich history of musical talent here, it would be a shame to miss this opportunity.

🌟 Motion Passed 🌟 After passing at committee stage last week my motion on the restoration of Wilmont House has now passed at full Council this evening. Very much looking forward to the independent evaluation with the options on the future of the building coming forward.

As a Council we agreed to working towards getting financial support for the businesses which were attacked, this shouldn’t take too long. In the meantime, I’m convening a meeting of Council officers, community stakeholders, & businesses, to find out how we can best support them.

This is disgraceful, nearly 100 tyres and a car bumper dumped overnight at the bank of the Lagan towpath at Minnowburn. Huge thanks to @NationalTrustNI staff who came this morning to remove the tyres.

Speaking to UTV Live this evening on the illegal dumping & fly tipping in South Belfast. “It’s the Councils responsibility to clear rubbish and pick up bins, but we all have our own responsibility when it comes to waste management and removing the waste we use on a daily basis.

I’ve been in Utrecht for a couple of days at the World Healthy Cities conf. While we all know they’re decades ahead of us on sustainable & active travel I don’t think we talk enough about the noise pollution caused by traffic, the silence of the city of Utrecht is so calming.

The decision by the UK Govt to “pause” the Belfast Region City Deal is incredibly short sighted and must be reversed. I’ve asked for a meeting with the Treasury and the PM, alongside the Mayors of the those councils involved in the city deal.

Delighted that Committee have agreed tonight with my proposal to seek an increase in funding for Lagan Valley Regional Park following the cut of funding from DfI. We will also be urging Lisburn & Castlereagh Council to step up too and support the future of the park.

🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 I’ve been thinking about this for the past day or so, ever since someone left a hoax bomb wrapped in a pride flag outside the home of my friend and party colleague, Cllr Peter McCully’s, house. We’ve seen a significant rise in LGBTQ hate crime over the past couple of years.
