Your regular reminder that in open source, people remember those who are rude/jerks.
Be professional, but respectful, and most important, remember that you're dealing with another person.
Don't be a jerk.
Let's see, I've bounced between:
Angular
React
Preact
Vue
Ember
Svelte
this past week.
Stop the framework wars yall. All of these have similar concepts and none are perfect. Use the right tool for the job and move on to the next. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
It's funny comparing native animations against web animations. Web on the left, Native on the right.
Native animations aren't as smooth or exact as you may think.
Unpopular opinion: airplanes should not have seats that recline. As a larger person, I do not want my knees crushed.
Anything outside of comfort+ or first class, my knees touch the back the of the seat in front of me
Oh hey look...Native iOS, Native Android, and PWA.
No magic "custom renderer".
No context switch.
Just one app.
On all platforms.
Built with
@angular
and
@Ionicframework
I’ve joined
@NxDevTools
!
I’m wrapping up my first week and I’m super excited to be working with so many talented people… and
@jeffbcross
Looking forward to diving into the monorepo space and bringing Nx to more ecosystems 🍻
This is false. Angular hasn’t had a major breaking changes in years.
Also it takes $0 to not shit on a technology. Consider congratulating the author for their hard work vs sharing an opinion, which no one asked for.
Conference requiring you to submit a brand-new talk and not do a repeat talk

Hey friends, some personal news. This is my last week at
@ionicframework
It's been an amazing 10 years, and I've got to do so many things in that time. I will forever be grateful to
@mmaxlynch
and
@benjsperry
for taking a chance on me in those early days.
Things to never ask an oss maintainer...
- Any update?
- Whats the progress on this?
- Rough estimate on how long this will take? I need it for work.
If it's important to you, send a pull request.
I learned basics of web development from learning AngularJS. Use what ever you can to learn things and get the job done.
Don't feel bad and don't listen to this person 👇
Oh....so no big deal or anything...
But I just merged in the initial code needed for
@vuejs
support in
@Ionicframework
Thanks to the awesome collaboration with
@ModusCreate
!
I wanted to see how well a react library would "just work" in an
@Ionicframework
app. Loaded it up in
@getcapacitor
and deployed to iOS. All it took was like...what... 10mins?
Code coming soon.
Oh wow...the new
@Ionicframework
docs just got a huge update for the CLI section! Basically every aspect of the CLI is documented and is accessible from one easy place ✨🗒
Another year of "State of JS" and another year where
1) Questions/data are not accurate (Angular vs AngularJS)
2) Unclear results due to data-viz (it's not easy, I get it)
After all the feedback from the previous years, the folks running it still won't listen.
A simple little enter animation for list items to reduce the jarring effect of content just appearing. Simple with Angular Animations.
Here's the animation using just ul/li. Adapt it to your own!
Going all in on CSS Variables in
@Ionicframework
4 is such a big deal. All the flexibility of sass variables, but baked into the browser! Meaning traditional live-reload setups work just fine, but now you can edit right from dev tools
With the framework team being together this week, we took the opportunity to work on our docs for Ionic 4. The docs will be wicked fast and a PWA for offline access!
#DocsParty
The other day, someone was asking why I was pushing the Ionic forum so much, Slack is better alternative and gets answers quicker.
Someone asked a question today that was answered weeks ago, and was the 1st result in forum search.
Slack is not scalable.
Forums > community slack
Sunday marked 5 year of (officially) working at
@Ionicframework
!
It's been a while and crazy ride so far, but wouldn't have it any other way
Heres to another 5 more years!
Some video showing off PWA behaviors on iOS.
Dare I say, for *most* needs, it's pretty solid.
I'm sure there's more safari/webkit bugs that people will point out, but for what I need, this is great!
Truly honored to share that I will be speaking at
@ngconf
again this year! Looking forward to sharing what I've learned about Angular Builders and the CLI!
Can't wait to see old friends and make some new ones!
🔥 Introducing Ionic 4 Beta! 🔥
📈 Performance & build time improvements
🅰 Angular CLI & Router
🌍 Modern Web APIs (Custom Elements, Shadow DOM)
🎨 Powerful theming + CSS Variables
📃 Brand new Documentation
🤙 Help us test the best darn version yet:
Did you know...
We published a new page on the
@Ionicframework
docs to show how you can customize animations!
This has been something people have asked for since we shared the first versions of V4. Happy to see it go live!
I'm spoiled with Angular. Having a great built-in solution for almost every thing you would want to do when you build an app vs having to look and sift through all of npm is such a good feeling
Added Dark mode support to the Ionic Conference App demo.
Based on the latest
@webkit
blog post about Dark Mode, CSS Variables are the future to providing a great dark mode experience!
I've had to ban now a total of 2 people from the Ionic community slack. I hate doing it, but we have a code of conduct for a reason. If you cannot be respectable and professional to your fellow peers, you cannot stay in the Ionic slack/forum.
Another great thing about CSS Variables; on the fly theme changes! Added benefit is that you don't need to bundle additional files, just change a value and it updates on the fly. Even custom theme could be generated on the fly!
In other news...
I've been working with Angular for years now, and 9.0 make the version updates painless!
No need to rework/rewrite my code.
Any breaking changes are handled by schematics/migrations.
🎉🍻
I find it weird that people get annoyed when you ask them to post a simplified demo of an issue.
How are people able to debug an issue without an example?
Also rebuilding a small demo is a great way to debug things.
