Some sad news. The last day to experience Dinah’s in its original location in Los Angeles is on April 30th. Dinah’s opened here in 1959, but new development is taking over, and it’s practically forced the historic restaurant to move out. (Thread)

The world’s only McDonald’s with Teal Arches, located in Sedona, Arizona! Sedona is known for its beautiful red rocks. When McDonald’s opened a store in 1993, they were required to change the color of their famous Golden Arches so it wouldn’t clash with the natural landscape.

The Disney Store at Montclair Place. This was one of the last remaining vintage Disney Stores, located in Montclair, CA. It closed in 2021, along with nearly all other Disney Stores. I visited the store on its final days of operation, which is when I snapped these pictures.

Former KMart in Burbank transformed into a vintage Toys R Us for filming. Assumed to be for Michael Jackson biopic. I thought it was cute that it was in the same shopping center as a Chuck E Cheese that still has its vintage signage!

One of the items I worked on for Disney Parks just popped up on shopDisney! This one was pretty fun to work on, I got to reference photos from the archives and go through some audio files of the attraction! It’s a coin bank inspired by the talking skull from the ride.

*CLOSED⁉️* I heard that the Snow White Cafe in Hollywood abruptly closed and was gutted. Not sure what’s going on, but I hope that original mural painted by the Disney animators doesn’t disappear. It opened in 1946 and was a really special piece of LA + Disney History.

Welcome to Bedrock City! 🪨🧡 I am a big fan of vintage roadside attractions, and I’m glad we can still visit Bedrock City today! This Flintstones-themed park is located in Williams, Arizona and it opened in 1972.

The Castro Theatre in San Francisco is a movie palace that dates back to 1922. It’s currently in the process of a historic restoration, the large vertical neon sign was just fully restored!

The headquarters for Publix Grocery Stores is in Lakeland, Florida. They have a water tower in the shape of a birthday cake, it’s even got candles on top that light up at night! 🎂

A look inside the Carthay Circle Theatre. 🤍 This Movie Palace opened in 1926, built by J. Harvey McCarthy. Designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, with a large neon sign on top. This is where “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” premiered. It was demolished in 1969.

Miceli’s is the oldest Italian restaurant in Hollywood, it opened in 1949. Inside, you’ll find the original wooden booths and panels from the Pig ‘n Whistle, which was a restaurant nearby. These pieces are from the 1920s, they moved here in the ‘50s.

Crossroads of the World, one of the most incredible places in Los Angeles. Originally an outdoor mall in Hollywood. The buildings are themed after architecture from around the world, and the main structure is shaped like a ship! My favorite 🤍

While driving back home from Nevada City, I stopped by Pea Soup Andersen’s in Santa Nella. It was my first time at this location. This is the last remaining Andersen’s restaurant. It opened in 1976.

The flame at Magic Lamp Inn is back! 🔥 Magic Lamp Inn opened in 1955 on Route 66 in Rancho Cucamonga. It closed in 2023. But there are plans to reopen it. Not sure when the restaurant will reopen, but I’ll definitely be there when it does!

This is “Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction,” based off the animated short film “Gertie the Dinosaur,” which was the first animated film to feature a dinosaur. Released in 1914. Located in Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

Universal’s Cabanay Bay is one of my favorite places to visit in Orlando! But the beautiful neon sign outside is gone. Hoping it’s temporary, but it’s been like this for about 7 months. The sign was animated & pays homage to mid-century signs of the past! I love it!

On January 1, 1955, Disneyland had a float in the Rose Parade in Pasadena to promote its upcoming park. It featured the pink elephants, since it was modeled after the concept art. (Footage via Periscope Film)

This is Covina Bowl, a Mid-Century Modern bowling alley that opened in 1956 and closed in 2017. The site is now home to townhomes but that Googie facade was preserved and restored.

There’s a little shop in Fantasyland that I adore. Behind the register is a really pretty display of Sleeping Beauty. This was one of many displays that were in the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk-Through, installed in the 1970s. I’m glad this one is still around and on display!
