oilbirds are probably my favorite bird species. they want to be fruit bats so bad. they live in caves and eat fruit and echolocate. they have the highest rod density of any vertebrate eye. and they're named that because their babies are so oily people used to boil them for oil

also a lot of people aren't aware there are *breeds* of pigeon! there are literally hundreds of pigeon breeds in all kinds of colors and shapes. here are a couple of my favorites: Pigmy Pouter, Archangel, Lucerne (i breed these!) and Frillback (yes, they have curls!)
