There aren't many public places I can go to anymore as a woman in Afghanistan. One of the few left is Kabul National museum. So I went a few weeks ago (while I still could?) to see the newly opened Mes Aynak exhibition, and was reminded of the country's fascinating history

Spring in #Kabul from beautiful Chelestoon garden at a time when it was still allowed and segregated by gender, leaving women and children to enjoy their side of the beautiful park. Today parks are no longer allowed for women and I'm desperate for any nature.

I cannot believe in 2020 I was doing a girls-only weekend trip to visit Bamiyan. Of our group four left the country, three of them forced to / due to not getting a visa. One keeps coming back. Such a different world, a lifetime ago. @FatmaFaizi @beatrizbelfrage @stephglinski 🤍

Great news for the Afghan people: EU is resuming basic needs (/development) funding to #Afghanistan , a support which had been suspended since August 2021. Important milestone: until now, humanitarian was preventing a famine but could not build long-term, durable solutions.

I announced at #UNGA our 🇪🇺 decision to provide €140 million worth basic needs support to #Afghanistan people. These funds are released following 6-month trial period and assessment of the “for women by women” principle. Our aid will not go through the Taliban structures.

Women’s economic empowerment in #Afghanistan Humaira received a 1st cow (the big one— her favorite), sold the dairy, bought another one, her husband could open a corner shop, and they put their kids through school, a huge source of pride. More support, success stories needed.

Visiting a family whose house was destroyed in June's earthquake in #Khost . The parents and 7 children now live in 2 tents in their courtyard. Soon, snow will arrive, and unless NGOs/UN reconstruct houses in time, they will be without a proper place to live and sleep #afghanistan
