Have just left a meeting with young Black people. I asked what they are taught in school about Black history. Response was slavery and Martin Luther King. This is why we need pan African schools.They also shared experiences of profiling. Far from negative this is a positive start

The Kru or Kroo originate from Liberia and Ivory Coast. Amazing sailors and canoers way before Cook or Columbus, they were given little value by European slave traders as they fought so hard or took their own lives rather than be slaves.

In 1935 an investigation found Black British seamen in Cardiff were made 'aliens' by the British government with the intention they & their children be 'repatriated'. They were falsely accused of crimes backed up by racist media. Dr Harold Moody fought 4 them. Not much changes

@BenjaminEnfield @Browndeus What is so disappointing whether this real or not, and i pray its not real, is that this is what is expected of Black people. Doing this for likes, attention, money, whatever plays right into the structurally racist system we live in.

Schools in my area struggle to provide sessions for Black History Month so i am over the moon that one of my young people who comes to the pan African group has asked her school if she can lead an assembly and she is doing it on pre colonial Africa using this book 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
