According to ESPN FPI the top 4 teams with regards to Strength of Record in the ACC are former ACC Atlantic members:
FSU - 4th
Louisville - 10th
NC State - 26th
Clemson - 31st
UNC (32nd) and Duke (40th) are the two highest former Coastal member teams.

Cal, Stanford, and SMU have all been able to expand their visibility via National Networks this season, and this has occurred without hindering any of the current ACC schools from their normal reach.
Successful 1st ride thus far for the three!
What if I told you that NC State gymnastics averaged more fans per meet than UNC’s Women’s basketball team did per game this season 🧐
The more you know!
NC State is potentially a 10 win team that could get 80%+ of the two-deep on both sides of the ball back next year.
Both Duke and UNC lose all but a handful on both sides of the ball.

is a good reminder that the ACC as a whole is truly in much better shape than many want to suggest.
Based on this data the Big 12's top brand would be 8th in the ACC in its current form.
Interesting stuff!
Dave Doeren will be the head coach of NC State football next season whether folks like it or not.
There will be massive turnover in the coaching department though, so expect that to be a big piece in the offseason.
Until then there is at least 6 games left. Season isn't done.
With 15 tackles against UNC yesterday Payton Wilson moved into 5th place ALL TIME in tackles for NC State.
5 tackles in the bowl game (assuming he plays) would give him 4th place. Would need only 90 tackles in the bowl to snag 1st place from Levar Fisher (98-01).
Goodness gracious another 14% without the additions included?!? The Big 12 folks are not going to enjoy that!
If my math is correct that would be $55.6M PER SCHOOL in payouts this year!! That includes the 1/2 share to Notre Dame.
ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips expects Fiscal Year Ending June 2024 that the league revenue will increase by 14% or $98.9M and end up around $805M. He expects media money (T1-T3) to increase by 9% and end up around 525M. All of this before Cal, Stanford, and SMU are officially in

The ACC media team realizing the N.C. State women’s team is ranked in the top-15, and they’ll actually have to mention them now instead of ignoring their existence
The NC State brand has always been primed to explode, and this year has helped propel it even more forward. Post COVID NC State has been one of the most exciting programs to watch/follow.
A lot of talk of what they didn’t do in the past, and not a lot of what we’ve done now 🤷🏻♂️
Positives:
- NCSU will play no team within the realm of competency as Clemson/Tennessee rest of season
- The offense is much better hands. Very impressed with them.
Negatives
- if the defense doesn’t get it together then the positives won’t mean anything
- ass whopping
Davis lowers his shoulder and initiates the contact. To try and sell it he aggressively throws his head back. (I don't have the video, but the baseline camera shows this clearly).
Not a foul.

Notre Dame joining the ACC provides the best of both worlds.
1. They get to maintain their $50M contract with NC
2. By fully joining the ACC their revenue jumps from roughly $20M to $50M+
3. They would boost ACC media revenue and thus their own.
Ideal monetary fun!

Explosive Plays Given Up by Defense after Week 2 (12+ yard rushes or 16+ yard completions):

East Carolina: 17
North Carolina: 22
I’m absolutely rolling at the UNC fans noting that Keenan Jackson was their “4th best receiver” so it’s all good. The level of incompetence is ungodly. A world of only looking at ratings on a website and not the potential of a guy.
From the 1969-70 season to the 1989-90 season NC State was ranked in the AP Poll 20 of 21 seasons.
In the 34 seasons following this stretch NC State has only been ranked NINE times in a season.
Once upon a time…
@HeelToTheDome
Yeahhh, UNC and Central both didn’t start these trends, lol.
NC State created the “Survive and Advance” motto, and yet that gets thrown around like a cold in a daycare.

Georgia Tech beating FSU this weekend leads to two potential scenarios:
1. The ACC gets credit for being as deep as ACC folks advertised.
2. The ACC is shredded and noted as much worse than people thought.
I think we all know which of the two will be pushed the hardest!
#ACC
The rumor mill is heating up for the ACC this week as there seems to be strong indications that a “settlement” to keep everyone in place has been agreed upon. More money, no one leaves, and everyone is “happy” for the time being.
A massive win for the ACC if so.
The ACC (most likely ESPN involved) is having second thoughts on giving Clemson and Florida State more money in return a shortened Grant of Rights end date. 2030 was indicated, which is the Big Ten TV deal fwiw.
We will see what ends happening.
UNC fans absolutely trashed me for noting how abysmal South Carolina was during the UNC game, and that they would be lucky to win 4-5 games.
“Just a salty NC State fan”
“You obviously don’t know football”
I’m not looking so stupid anymore I’d say 🤷🏻♂️
The ACC’s media distribution for 23-24 will exceed the new media deal of the Big 12 for 25-26 by $6M and by doing so two years earlier.
Utah has an exemption from the Big 12 GOR which allows them to leave prior to August 2nd with no penalty.
Could you imagine they do? 🤔
Tim Beck in 4 games at Coastal has led them to:
- 5-yr low in Offensive PPA
- 5-yr low in Offensive Success Rate by over 5%
- 5-yr low in Offensive Line Yards by 0.5 yards a play
- 5-yr low in Points per Opportunity by 0.5 points per opportunity
State fans use this as you will!
The officials in Las Vegas - Atrocious
The officials in the Bahamas - Atrocious
The officials in Maui - Atrocious
Do I need to continue? All around this has been an extremely poor officiating week across the country. Something has to give!

I’m still not 100% understanding the hate for Utah State in March Madness!
-Q1/Q2: 9-5
- Yes, they have 2 Q4 losses but those were THREE+ MONTHS AGO. Since then they’ve only had 1 loss outside of Q1.
- SOS is 21st
In my mind they are a LOCK!
#MarchMadness
Yeah, okay...lets not act like this game only had 269K viewers on FS1 last yr. (the Big 12 attributed network), and lets forget that all but 3 CW games have had more viewers than that (both ACC games at 400K+ this yr)
Lol, being petty for a better network. Hilarious behavior!
The N.C. State fan narrative is hilarious at this point. Are some NC State fans like this, of course, BUT so are fans in every fan base.
One of my worst college football experiences was a UNC game at Kenan, and one of the best fans wise was at Kenan. All about perspective!
Tips For Going To Carter - Finely:
1. Travel in groups ALWAYS.
2. Don't respond to stupidity with stupidity.
3. Expect rude, derogatory comments.
4. Find humor in how idiotic a whole adult can be.
What else can y'all add?
NC State Offensive Thoughts:
- WR room is 100x better.
- The TE/FB spot is still a major liability in run blocking. OL is fine
- McCall will be fine. SUPER amped up leading to sloppy 1st half
- The playbook was clearly minimized. 500+ yards with that in mind should be exciting
Appears we have a carriage battle brewing. Comcast probably doesn’t like the rate and level of service that BTN is requesting. BTN is likely saying “just distribute us like you distributed the Pac 12 Networks”. Oregon and Washington both play on BTN this Saturday.
NC States goal for next week is to slow down Omarion Hampton. UNC lives or dies on the back of Hampton, and unlike Maye, he hasn’t folded when not playing cupcake defenses.
Super solid player without a doubt!
For what it's worth 19 of UNC's wins happened while they offered football scholarships and NCSU did not until 1933.
Also, since the dawn of the ACC the series is 37-33 UNC, and NCSU holds the turn of the century record 15-9. While its more NCSU of late, it is equal overall!
NC State in the first 3-quarters of play yesterday only allowed 15 “successful” plays for a success rate of 69%, which would’ve finished top-10 on the week. In the 4th Quarter NC State’s defense gave up TEN successful plays. The lack of success on O finally caught up to the D.
The UNC conspiracy theories on the slipping is hilarious. Both teams have had players slipping, and teams had all pregame to get a feel for the field that isn’t watered during that time. Lazy excuse!
NC State: Wins Out
Louisville: Loses 2 of 3 playing VT, UVA, Miami
Duke: Loses 1 of 4 playing Wake, UNC, UVA, Pitt
I do believe that would give us the nod over any other potential tiebreakers, and Duke/Louisville, who have the head to head over us, would have 3 losses to our 2
There are 362 D1 College Basketball teams...
NC State since January 1st ranks 342nd in Offensive Effective Field Goal %. Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Notre Dame are the other ACC teams 300th or worse in that timeframe.

It’s been used for almost 10-years now and not a single person has cared outside of the program until you. A lot of use of “Survive and Advance” coined by NC State, but I’m sure that’s okay in your eyes, right?
ESPN is making $100M+ per year solely on the ACC Network, and that's with extremely minimal showings of FSU/Clemson football on the network.
Why would ESPN slash that revenue by not picking up the media option?
Like I've said before that's just seems like very bad business!
NC State comes into today with almost the entire end of season starting lineup. Kansas State comes in with a TON of key pieces missing.
One month ago this is a toss-up game.
Today it’s not close.
NC State: 34
Kansas State: 17
Miami came into last night having only scored less than 28 points in a game once…that was in a loss to GT where they scored 20.
Last night they were held to ONLY 6 points with NO TD’s.
What a performance by this defense!!

Another 5 year bump of 66.9% and the $60M+ added from the pro rata clause for Calford and SMU additions would have the media distributions for the ACC at close to $900M for the 2027-2028 season.
A media payout of around $50M per team and that’s without partial shares included.
I can confirm
@theACC
TV revenue has increased from $288.8M in the 2018-19 fiscal year before the launch of
@accnetwork
to $481.7 million for 2022-23, an increase of 66.9%.
#AccomplishGreatness
I’d argue several teams need to be changed:
Colorado exceeded expectations
NC State exceeded expectations
Alabama met expectations
Duke met expectations
UNC did not meet expectations
If ESPN accepts the option of the ACC media deal for 2027-2036, assuming no changes to base pay and the 4.5% escalator clause, below would be the T1 payouts PER school in the ACC. Numbers exclude ACC Network and the future buyout option of T3 rights in 2027.

NC States defense came into the game with a 14.5% Havoc Rate (which is a Gibson defense all time low), and ended up snagging a 41.3% Havoc Rate against NIU Saturday. All that against one of the best OL’s in the country that had not given up a sack all year…and went home with 4.
NC States rest of January games Quad-wise as of today January 7th:
Q1: UNC, at UVA, at Syracuse
Q2: Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Miami
Q3: N/A
Q4: at Louisville
Only one “could destroy your resume” game, and the rest are MASSIVE resume builders.

Not Sam Howell getting benched AGAIN, and Brisett coming right in and leading a super quick TD drive. Rivera and staff obviously didn’t learn their lesson last week.
Sam Howell will finish his last 3 games with:
285 total passing yards
1 TD
4 INT
34.2 passer rating
But, but I was told that being in the ACC hurts recruiting…there’s no way that a recruit would decommit from the SEC and go to the ACC…that’s not what those ACC folks said could happen 🤔
UPDATE: 4-star DL Christian Garrett decommitted from UGA today and has received two Crystal Balls from Wiltfong and Chad Simmons to flip to Georgia Tech!
He’s ranked the

I would love for NC State to move one of their non con games to a future year to add Wazzu or Oregon State to the schedule. I would prefer either over Louisiana Tech or Northern Illinois

2 weeks ago Deion Sanders and Colorado had 3 commits for the 2025 class.
Today they have ZERO.
Also, as of today they only have NINE commits for 2024. Only 7 other P5 schools (including SMU) have less than 15 commits and 4 of those 7 are former PAC-12 teams.
Boyd County, Nebraska in northern Nebraska has more viewers than LA.
Boyd County Population: 2,000
LA County Population: 10,400,000
Yup, that checks out…
Here’s a map showing where college football viewership is most and least prevalent. California - except for Fresno - doesn’t watch college football & hasn’t for some time. The darker the shading the more viewers.
According to Bart Torvik NC State's next three opponents have ALL played sub-100th ranked basketball metrically over the last 3-weeks.
Syracuse: 2-4 and 133rd
Boston College: 3-2 and 107th
Florida State: 1-4 and 129th
Must win games against struggling opponents!
We got confirmation that the ACC Network will receive in-market shares for TV Households in the Dallas-Forth Worth and San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose Markets.
These markets provide 5,201,470 TV Households, and this does not include streaming services in these markets.
Ideal!!
This NC State baseball team is giving me flashbacks to 2021. A team that struggled the beginning half of the season due to pitching depth and slow offense. Now, the pitching staff, although still decimated by injuries, has come on STRONG and the bats are hotter than ever.
Finals
NC State over Virginia Tech: 38-25
Clemson over UNC: 31-20
UVA over Duke: 30-27
Notre Dame over Wake Forest: 45-7
PHENOMENAL day of picking once again!
This 8 week stretch for the Wolfpack might be one of the easiest stretches of this length for any team in the country. 6-0 with this roster should be a cakewalk otherwise there may be some big issues, IMO!
NC State, UNC, Clemson, and FSU are reported to be no’s, but Miami, VT, and UVA are silent no’s as well. Don’t let the many meetings separate folks from reality. If it was really that close it would’ve either already happened, or they wouldn’t be needing this many meetings.
PER - Pro Football Hall of Fame voter and author Jason Cole reported late Tuesday night that he’s heard an agreement for Cal and Stanford to join the ACC could come TODAY AS DETAILS ARE COMING TOGETHER. But no word on SMU... things are close for ACC expansion --- but NOT there
Oklahoma/Texas was noted by analyst as 50% of the Big 12 value when it left. The conference then added BYU/Cinci/UCF/Houston and still got an $8M+ increase from ESPN per yr. in revenue.
Are we really supposed to believe ESPN will drop the ACC's payout as some suggest?
@Genetics56
Shouldn’t every ACC team that has signed the agreement, willingly at that, have had a true copy of the agreement previously? If not, then a bigger question is why even sign without knowingly understanding the full scope of small print for such a contract? Doesn’t make sense.
