Translink is launching the first 4 of these into service today. Each will take the equivalent of 85 cars off the road - that’s 100 tons fewer GHGs per year. This is a pilot. To convert the entire fleet, we need the next federal government on board as a partner. #CureCongestion

My message to @FCM_Online today: Canadians are counting on us to work together as partners and deliver on affordable housing, resilient infrastructure, and accessible transit. That’s why I have made a point of attending this conference every year – and why I always will.

. @BradWestPoco : “The pressures on TransLink couldn’t be more intense. Demand on the system has never been higher.” On the need for prov/fed funding: “We can’t keep a transit system at 2019 service levels while adding at least 50k people to the region every year.” #UBCM2024

We are calling on senior govts to work with us over the next year to come up with the solutions we need so we can begin expanding transit service. Metro Vancouver needs transit to support a fast-growing population, bring service to areas without any now, and meet GHG targets. 1/x

With federal & provincial funding, TransLink’s Access for Everyone plan will double bus service and add 170km of rapid transit throughout the region. We need the federal government to invest in this plan so we can begin adding more services w/o delay. 2/2

Today we launched public consultations the 10-Year Priorities for our long term transportation strategy, Transport 2050. This ambitious plan - more than double what set out to do in our 2014 Vision - will require sustained partnership with BC and Canada.

We are proud to support FCM’s efforts to secure permanent, predictable federal transit funding. Such a fund would enable Metro Vancouver to complete the remaining projects in the 10-Year Vision and get started right away on new projects to be identified in Transport 2050.

Min. @DLeBlancNB 's commitment to release details on how the Permanent Transit Fund will work this fall will help us plan for projects in 2026. But waiting until 2026 is too long - we need new transit now to support record-setting pop. growth.
