Saturday founder conversation: Product Market Fit.
I was thinking about
@pmarca

@BobBodily

Itโs easy to get distracted, but in the end PMF is the only thing that matters. Iโm
The Internet Computer is amazing blockchain technology with endless possibilities ๐คฏ โ but a bit overwhelming at first. ๐ฌ
So, I decide to make it super easy.
Hereโs a list of VERY easy ways to start learning about
#InternetComputer
:
@Austen
One time the customer support rep tried to convince me that the speeds I was getting, which were a tenth of what I was paying for, were good enough for whatever task I needed to do. ๐๐คทโโ๏ธ
Chris Dixon is the top crypto investor in the world, managing a $7.6B fund.
But you probably haven't heard of Internet Computer, one of his biggest investments.
So why is
@cdixon
bullish on the
#InternetComputer
?
5 Massive Opportunities for the Internet Computer โ
1) For all the excitement of Ethereum, Solana, Terra, Avalanche, et al. โ none can actually store data on chain affordably. It costs millions to store just 1 GB of data on ETH, and at least $1m to store 1 GB on SOL.
How much is 1 GB of data on ICP for one year? $5.
To all my friends in the
#InternetComputer
ecosystem: I am officially a member of the 8-year gang. ๐ I know Iโm late compared to many of you but donโt hold that against me. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
So when are we having a meet up???
Iโve only posted about Internet Computer a few times, but โ the community is unbelievable. Iโve never encountered a more active, motivated, friendly group on the internet.
Pretty inspiring. And contagious.
The IC community is the brightest and kindest! We are honored to be part of this ecosystem with you all!!
Now lets build some dope stuff, change the world and have fun while weโre at it!
#StrongerTogether

Come join us on the
#InternetComputer
! Buy the coin, build stuff, hang out in the Telegrams. The IC ecosystem is the friendliest and most welcoming I've worked with in my career.
Today's a great day to talk about NFTs on the
#InternetComputer
!
Why do some projects sell out and others don't? If a project doesn't sell out on day 1, is it a bad project? If it does sell out on day 1, is it a good project?
Let's go through this in detail ๐
2) With storage costs so high, majority of projects are hosted on centralized 3rd party cloud servers: AWS, Azure, etc. Itโs hard to get excited about decentralized software that is dependent on centralized servers.
Not a problem on Internet Computerโ100% decentralized on-chain.
3) Every crypto fan has felt the pain of gas fees. Exorbitant on ETH, somewhat manageable on other chains. Guess what? ICP has โreverse gas fees,โ paid by the developer.
Across
@Entrepot
collections in the last 3 months (millions in volume) this is our grand total in fees: <$20.
7) Last point is qualitative. Iโve worked with a lot of people heavily invested in ICP and there are a TON of early ETH supporters (devs, investors, etc.)
These are crypto OGs who moved from ETH to the
#InternetComputer
. Huge crypto wisdom & experience built into the ecosystem.
6) Almost every coin with momentum has benefited from super-hyped DEFI projects.
Internet Computer launched more recently, and just enabled the key feature (ICP in canisters) to make DEFI possible.
Watch for a DEFI boom on the IC 3-6 months after Thanksgiving.
5) The ICP token only launched 7 months ago.
Each of the other popular chains that Iโve mentioned (ETH, SOL, LUNA, AVAX) have been around for at least a year longer than ICP.
While
#ICP
tech is better, people have had less time and exposure to the token.
4) All the newer chains have solved this problem but it needs to be said: Transaction speed on the Internet Computer is web speed.
TX times on BTC and ETH are basically unusable for anything but financial transfers. IC transactions occur in seconds, not minutes or hours.

This feels like a serious issue. The photos from the airport tonight are already an indication that many people are willing to place themselves above the collective efforts of the community.

I think about this a lot. I think thereโs something in the brainโs ability to process abstract vs concrete. Cutting cost is immediate, concrete, and simple. Adding income is much more abstract and complex. One is intuitive, the other is not. I agree with you 100% of course.

Improve your writing by eliminating cliches.
People use cliches when they donโt want to exert effort to find their own way of expressing something.
Cliches make your writing less authentic.
Cliches signal to your readers that they can stop paying attention.
Hereโs a reminder that the Internet Computer Protocol ($ICP) blockchain has:
- no gas fees
- cheap, on-chain storage
- phenomenal speed
If you want to build web products with the benefits of blockchain, ICP is the answer. Every other chain has too many trade-offs.

@lpolovets
I feel like Iโm seeing many responses to this that are missing the point. The point isnโt number of followers or โhow many engagementsโ you get on a post, because that isnโt networking. The point is that you can start authentic conversations with so many people.

Proud to be part of the 8-year-gang with some of my $ICP locked in an 8-year-neuron, with no dissolve.
Takes belief and commitment but Iโm very bullish on the

Fun Fact: There are 112.8M $ICP in 8-year neurons. Of those, 110.8M (98.2%) are still locked. That's 23.1% of TOTAL $ICP supply maximally committed.

50% of you love web3. 40% of you hate web3. 10% of you: Not even sure what I'm talking about.
This thread is for the 10%! Today I tried to explain what "blockchain" means in very simple terms, in less than 300 words.
My 10-year-old understood it, so you can too! Here we go...
1) Read this essay from
@dominic_w
. Heโs the President of
@dfinity
, the primary non-profit organization behind the Internet Computer. This is one of my favorite summaries of what Internet Computer is, and its potential:
@paulg
I've been thinking about your "great essays are surprising" concept a lot. I think maybe great essays are surprising in the same way that great startup ideas are surprising: you often feel like you should have known or seen something beforehand; it seems obvious in retrospect.
1) My experience comes from being the COO of Entrepot, launching over 50 collections.
And from being the creator of
@crypto_90s
, a collection that launched this week and has sold 25% percent of mint.

1. Internet Computer allows companies to build without platform risk.
Large companies (like X!) often restrict access after their growth phase. This can stifle innovation. Internet Computer has the infrastructure to allow startups to build without platform risk.
13) How does this relate to my project,
@crypto90s
?
- small collection, just 1999 NFTs
- the price is a bit high, but we think utility will justify the price
Our plan:
1) release our product (โ increase utility)
2) use the product itself for marketing (โ increase marketing)
I've tested and reviewed 20+ web3 products this month and researched over 200.
I'm starting to see trends, pattern-matching, etc. across all web3 products, as soon as I see a landing page.
Here's the most important thing I've learned:
The blockchain does not matter.
ETH,
Not sure how many chess fans we have around hereโฆbut Iโve been playing on
@chesscom
since 2009 and today I hit my highest all-time blitz rating. โโโ
3) What factors impact demand for an NFT collection?
- mint supply
- price
- quality of art
- utility of the project
- marketing exposure
There are others, but I suspect these factors account for the majority of demand.
8) Try building a super easy website on the Internet Computer. Youโll need a wallet to get started, but
@icme_app
(built by
@HoumanShadab
) is a great tool for no-code builders:
2) Let's start with the obvious: MOST NFT projects do NOT sell out. This is true for ETH, SOL, and ICP.
There are many collections, and the demand rarely exceeds the supply.
18) Final note:
I think it's unfair to judge a project based on a single day(s) mint performance.
All projects are dynamic, growing and improving over time, and should have the benefit of building momentum and increasing value over time.
Massively bullish on new web3 trend:
Juggling.
