My favourite Lame Habs Stats: Mario Tremblay, who retired at 30 YO in 1986 with 258 goals still sit as the 10th best goal scorer in Habs in history. No one scored more since. 1986.

5.29 to 1.47 was the Expected Goals in the Stars favour. Despite that, somehow, the top line of Suzuki Caufield Slafkovsky managed an 88 Expected Goals share. That is insane. Montembeault in one game did a 2.29 goals saved above expected. This is also insane.

The Habs needed a center since 1997, but instead Sergachev eventually fell to them in the 2016 draft at #9 , which they flipped in June of 2017 for Jonathan Drouin, not solving said #1 center problem. And now they have a bunch of wingers playing off position.

The Preds needed a center in 2013 but instead Seth Jones eventually fell to them in the draft at #4 , which they flipped in Jan. of 2016 to Ryan Johansen, solving said #1 center problem. And now they have a bunch of centers, including two who play really well on the half-wall.

People are talking like the problem of the center line is fixed. They see Kotkaniemi as a 1C and Poehling as the 2C. In reality, they project as a 2C and 3C respectively. Habs still without that true 1C prospect. Good news is they'll have a chance to draft him in next 2 seasons.

I know fans are really anticipating that Romanov is going to be a Habs panacea but if he can only get 4 minutes in the KHL, why is there an expectation he is going to step right into the NHL to impact positive change? Odds strong that he needs to improve a lot still.

Je suis ébahi par lea gens qui ne comprennent pas qu’on me reconstruit pas en seulement deux repêchages. C’est l’an 2 d’une reconstruction de 5-6 ans. Non il n’y a pas de vedettes encore, car le CH n’a pas été chanceux timing-wise au repêchage, mais patience…

So Bergevin will miss out on Tavares obviously, on O'Reilly, on Muzzin. He missed out on Hanifin and Lindholm too. There's no short cuts left: he gotta trade his veterans for future assets. Price, Weber, Petry, they all become expandable.

Struble being able to do well on a 3rd pair is a godsend. I think most NHL GMs are obsessed with Xhekaj and his trade value is much higher than his real value. Say the Habs package their 1st and Xhekaj, I believe they could get Anaheim’s pick, which would be Lindstrom territory.

If Xhekaj has more offensive upside than Barron (really don’t know if I agree, but I don’t know either tbh), then you gotta trade one of those two for a Romanov type haul at the draft
