Dylan Samberg has now won four-straight titles. Back-to-back Minnesota Class A state titles with Hermantown in 2016 and 2017. Back-to-back NCAA Division I titles with Minnesota Duluth in 2018 and 2019.

Freshman goalie Zach Sandy was sent to the emergency room earlier this season after taking a slap shot to the neck in practice. He stopped all nine shots he faced in the second period of the 2-1 win.

Bulldogs freshman defenseman Scott Perunovich was named the final national rookie of the month for March/April. Pretty sure Mark Dayton is also naming Perunovich lieutenant governor later today. NHL is considering him for the Calder Cup too. Anything else I miss?

Jennifer Kuhlman, mother of former Bulldogs captain Karson Kuhlman, was involved in a serious car accident this month while working with U.S. Air Force in the UK. Upon hearing of her accident, UMD hockey parents rallied to offer their support.

. @USAHockeyNTDP center Cole Spicer has committed to UMD for the 2022-23 season. He had previously signed with North Dakota. Spicer likes the Bulldogs history, and is looking forward to playing with NTDP teammate Isaac Howard again in college. Story:

According to Scott Sandelin, both Scott Perunovich and Justin Richards are coming back next season. I'll have a story up later tonight looking at where the 2019-20 UMD roster sits at this point in the "third season," as the coach likes to call it.

Looks like some members of the U.S. Olympic men’s hockey team stayed in Beijing for the closing ceremonies, and I say good for them. The Olympics is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many, and kudos to those who are able to soak up the experience to the fullest.

Outgoing Bulldogs senior center Peter Krieger is signing in Europe with Västerviks IK in Sweden. The club currently plays in the Tier II league HockeyAllsvenkan. Always cool to see players take advantage of opportunities in Europe out of college. I wound up in Dickinson, N.D.
